Best radar detector

Hey everyone ... maybe you can help me, in my latest drives there are a lot of areas where waze is just not working so well. Can you recommend THE BEST Radar detector.

I am beyond out of the loop on these things and before I post on the major boards I am hoping you can guide me.

Thanks !!

They say the Escort is THE best, but I'm kinda partial to Valentine One.

I was checking out the escort but they have no idea which model to go with. I'm going to research it a little more.

Escort Passport Max. I have the previous version (the 9500ix) and the GPS filter is a huge feature over older gen radar detectors. The warning range is great. The only drawback is the new false signals triggered by certain cars w/ blindspot detection (specifically gm systems and acura systems). I believe the new Max units do a better job filtering them out. Do a search here for it, I believe TD and Clyde wound up w/ the same unit I had and were pleased.

I don't follow these things anymore, but I think there was a thread on this fairly recently.

I've about had it with the false alarms on my V1 and will switch to Escort sometime soon. I had the insides overhauled in my V1 last year and it didn't do enough.

I use V1, some false alarms, but I get a new one every few years, has served me well. I actually think it complements Waze quite well as it never had GPS, but certainly I've been more lax about putting it on (as Waze does indicate well in our dense areas) and I no longer drive as enthusiastically.

My 9500ix was old when I bought it in 2012. I stopped using it every day a few months ago because the falses from blind spot systems became too annoying.

The current Escort Max 360/Max 2/IX are supposed to be much better at that, but dunno if it makes them a non issue and I don't know if any of the reef are better or worse than the other two.

Still believe a good detector combined with Waze is the best setup.

I just use Waze 99% of the time now. If I'm on a B-road in the middle of nowhere I'll hook up the old V1. If the false alarms are enough to be annoying, I figure I'm somewhere populated enough that Waze will probably cover me and turn off the detector.

I pretty much use Waze also but my son was driving to his college in upstate NY and was using waze but he got nailed by laser.

Luckily the cop cut him a break and lowered it to 10 mph over the limit but I want him to have the extra protection for those long drives.
