Dial 911

With all of the various perseveration threads we have out there, I don't think we have one for the random 911s that we come across, think we should buy, but eventually do not.

Here, let me start:

Ohhh l like the color, the optional sport seats and the aftermarket exhaust.

Nice one!

Yeah, that checks most of the boxes. It's missing sport chrono and leather dash, but presumably you can live without those.

I've been looking for a 2010-2011 911 GTS but haven't found many that are priced reasonably. Seem like a sweet spot for the 997s.

No Sport Plus. Pass.

I'm still annoyed at that white one I missed.

Edit:
And, yeah, I too really want a GTS. Just not willing to spend $70+.

Is $60k a good price for a 2009 Carrera S with 25k miles and almost no factory options?

JST 04-13-2016 02:22 PM

I don't think it's a bad price. These cars remain stupidly expensive. They bottomed out a few years ago--I think when I was looking in 2011 you could get a 3 year old car for about this price.

They haven't been that cheap since.

It seems really high. That or the cayman and boxster are a screaming bargain.

Or?

I think it's "and."

Though it has always been the case that the Boxster/Cayman are insanely better values than the 911, year for year, even brand new.

It's definitely on the high end. I would expect it to be in the low 50's, but bubble pricing and all that....

edit:
I only see maybe (4) within 100 miles listed cheaper. :ack:

I know i'm in the minority, but the only reason I even consider lusting after a 911 is all the hype this board gives it and the idea that owning a Porsche is supposed to be cool. That car is bleh to me.
