2000 BMW 328Ci, taken yesterday at my gym.

I know it sucks, don't complain to me. I am proud that I finally got it washed.

The picture of the p-car was taken a couple of weeks ago. All the snow is gone now and I have my permanent plates.

The Mini and the BMW were photographed during snowmaggeddon.

Here's the Infiniti from a couple of days ago while loading it up for a trip to the recycle center ... the BMW from last summer and this winter.

You live in a forest?

I was actually (briefly) in Connecticut for the first time ever last week. I bet the countryside is very pretty in the summer when things are green.

Yes, those are two highways that run through Houston. They have nothing to do with my picture.

dan 03-12-2010 12:20 PM

that's where the pic was taken, according to you camera's GPS data.

I did not know that iPhone pics had GPS tags. A bit creepy.

59 & 45 is way off. I suppose that it does not work well in underground garages.

Here is where i was if you care.

That is a pretty amazing feature. It is flawed though. The GPS chip can work without internet service, so why does the camera feature only record the coordinates if there is an internet connection?

No internet connection at the shark tank, but internet connection at the beach.

dan 03-12-2010 12:44 PM

But yeah, I was just trying to warn you about posting pics with GPS data in them

How were you able to derive that information from the pic that Nate posted?

Some shameless CT is beautiful stuff, from trees to beaches, and Porches (this is a car forum after all:)) - these are from up and down the western corridor (alongside NY state) and along the shore.

This was my son's first open-topped Jeep ride. We just went around
the block but when we pulled back into the driveway he kept saying "more! more!"
so we headed out again for another 15 minute drive. During the drive he'd
randomly giggle, laugh, throw his hands up in the air and kept
repeating "Jeep! Jeep! Jeep!".

I don't think internet access has anything to do with it. When you open your camera, it asks you if it can use your current location. If you click okay, then it will record the GPS data. If you click Don't Allow, it won't.

I think.

dan 03-12-2010 03:40 PM

see :)

you can even click the Map Link to be taken to a map of the exact location

Doesn't work in Safari or Firefox for Mac (at least in the default setup).

I think.

I can't recall if it asked me the first time I used the iPhone camera, but it certainly does not ask every time that you open the program.

I don't see a GPS tag on the shark tank photo, do you? I know that I did not have internet access when I took it because I have international data roaming turned off. In the other pic, I had a wifi connection.

dan 03-12-2010 03:54 PM

my phone asks me every time I use the camera. Do you have Location Services turned off?

It doesn't ask me and I do have Location Services on.

dan 03-12-2010 03:59 PM

I'm reading on various forums that once you click "allow" twice in a row it won't ask you again.

I have no idea :dunno:

My S2000 is still sitting in a garage in southern GA, so no pics to show. And I doubt that anyone cares to see the 4Runner.

Now that the weather has warmed up sufficiently to get some traction in the M5 I am really, really, really loving that car. I was a little afraid to drive it over the winter on the summer tires, but the last two weeks have opened my eyes to its capabilities. It's nice too that the M3 feels different enough to be a pleasant switch, especially with the top down (It hit 63F earlier this week and I got to convert for a bit).

Eh, what can I say, bored today - here's another from last fall. I was invited to Lime Rock with the Porsche club to hang out and run some "parade laps".

"Twas fun :) I'm at the lower right.

Nice pic Josh. Wish I still had my E36. You have a great Combo.
