Dakar Yellow w/ Modena or Tan Interior could you handle it?

I posted this on the BMW NW forum. Since I'm looking the opinions of a small group but those which I respect (RKT BMR, Keith Doug Haussler and some people I recognize from other places) I've decided to put this here rather then on one of the larger forums (bimmerfest, dtm, bfc)

I've decided to abandon the idea of getting a truck and I'll be purchasing another bmw.

I'm thinking a 328is something reasonable and fun to get me to and from college and for a decent price.

However I do have the biggest weak spot for Dakar Yellow M3's and the only way I'd spend the extra cash for an ///M is if it's a 96 or newer and yellow.

That being said browsing Bimmerforums I found a really nice one with every option and no luxury package (exactly what I want) with 85K miles in Chicago and the guy istarted at 22 and is now asking 18,000 he claims it's immaculate, I get the feeling he really needs to move this car (he sells cars) ... Whatever I've never seen an ad for a car that wasnt. I'm awaiting more pictures of it from him

So I called him getting all the info on the car it all sounds good so far blah blah blah and then I asked him about the interior fully expecting him to agree when I asked if it was black and my heart sank about 5 feet when he said Modena (maybe it's tan, whatever it's not black)... Now Modena l(or tan) looks fine on certain colors but yellow I'm just not sure about. What would you think about non black or grey interior on a yellow car? I'm just not sure I could deal with that

My next question is being I bought back my M3 and I have a complete black interior how difficult would it be to switch the interior from Modena/tan to Black and what various pieces will need to be switched?

Since my car was a 96 I'd need to find 98 door panels with airbags.

I would think it'd look awesome; you'd have a truly unique car. I'd be happy with that combo. But that is a personal choice. If you need black inside, you need black inside.

I think what's important is that the interior is a complete unit that looks good, and the exterior is a complete unit that looks good. It's not like having Modena seats and a Dakar dash, for instance.

Here's a low res pic of it, remember it's Dakar yellow.

What is the interior name for that color?

And could you handle it?

Yes, that's Modena. It might look a bit plain but it would be cool. Like you said you could swap the black interior out of your old car if ya wanted.

WELCOME Tye!

FYI, that first interior pic is NOT modena. It's mulberry.

Mulberry fields forever....

The guy who has the car is telling me the interior is called "magma" how do we tell for sure does it say anywhere in the car? What does magma look like?

Do you have the VIN? Any BMW dealer should be able to pull up the original configuration (including colors) and the service history. If your local dealer(s) won't do it for you, you might ask one of the dealers over at the 'fest.
