New BMW M3 Sighting

While I was hanging out at the BMW dealership this morning they were taking delivery of a brand new M3 coupe.

Half the staff at the dealership was clustered around the car drooling over it.

I must stay, it looked good in person.

The hood bump for the engine is rather pronounced, though.

One of the techs took the car on a short test drive. As I heard it go by at an idle speed it sounded like an electric car. When he returned he blipped the throttle. . . much better.

That is all.

I won't lie, I think it would cool to have. But the 335i is almost too good to pass and fork out all that extra cash (especially if one does the 1K over ED invoice deal).

I still don't like the interior though.

I saw one this morning in the city, apparently being shuttled between BMW Manhattan buildings.

It looked really nice, but for whatever reason it didn't give me an automotive chubby.

as much as i 'appreciate' the $70,000 as tested m3 --i'd never spend that much money on that torqueless 3700lb wonder in this lifetime or the next.

you betcha i'd just get the CTS-V at 60k.

I was out driving for a bit today after washing the cars and my local dealer has an alpine white one with black leather.

It had every single option except for a hole in the roof. Grand total was $70K and change.
They also had a $15K markup on it. (Whatever)

Nicer looking in person for sure. Seeing as a loaded E46 M3 ZCP with every option including SMG was closing in on $63K, a loaded E92 for $70K does not seem that out of line.

I also stopped by the Lexus dealer and they had 2 IS-F's. Also better looking in person and also very nice seats. I would never buy one but its not THAT bad.

What I did find interesting was it sat realllllly low. There was hardly a one finger gap from the tire to the wheel well in the back. Much lower then the 03+ 4x4 suspension that came on the E46 M3.

Well, I priced out a loaded (to me) M3 sedan at $62K. What makes it worse is that a loaded (to me) 335i sedan with reasonable ED and other discounts cames out to $42K. That's a lot of dough separating both cars. Throw in the super duper LSD and Dinan remap (say $10K installed) and you are still $10K a head without losing much performance.

The CTS-V adds a whole other dimension. If you crave lightness, the additional 400lbs then you don't get a CTS-V. At the same time, if you really care about lightness, you don't get a 3800lb pig. If you consider them both to be fat-asses, then why not keep some change and take the bigger and likely much faster beast (with real brakes) home?

Oh and they will to. There are two sales guys at my local dealer that have been there for years. They both make pretty darn good money.

This area is a perfect place for a BMW dealership. The old adage around here is "B asic M arin W heels".

I have had enough actually and look forward to moving to Bosie.

Our Center has a Red Coupe, White Coupe and a Silver Sedan. I prefer the sedan to the coupes, but that has always been the case for me. BTW, $70K for the coupes. :ack:
