LOL. Of course!

Mileage depends on your lead-footedness. I drive everywhere in Sport in stop-and-go city traffic. That can be as low as 14 MPG. Highway is typically low-30s.

I may have a guy coming this weekend, though. Through BMWCCA. Stay tuned.

Stumbling over the out-of-state tags conundrum. Any advice? Georgia doesn't offer a temporary tag solution Neither does OH.

I guess the buyer is expected to complete the paperwork with you, travel home, wait for tags, then retrieve the car. :ack:

yeah I have only sold cars to people in state.

In CA it is just get the money, sign over pink slip and then fill out a release of liability form.

If he has another plate, he could bring it down, put it on and drive it back. There is some level of risk for each of you, but it is relatively minimal. I've done it a few times in the past. You're relatively protected w/ a notarized bill of sale as long as he adds it to his insurance, he's relatively protected as well.

You could also let him drive it home on your plate. I guess it depends on the profit over the trade-in value as to the amount of risk you're willing to tolerate. ;)

I've sold to quite a few cars to out of state buyers, even once to a person who lived in Canada and I let them know it's their responsibility to figure out how to get it home, I take off my plates and my registration stickers as there is jo way I am assuming any type of liability once that car leaves my house.

Also keep in mind they might be from a state where they can get a temp.

BTW I would recommend eBay as a place to sell... it sells the car quickly which to me is the best way to sell it. I don't know about you but when I sell a car I want it gone asap.

If you go the eBay route and need any advice please let me know I've sold a lot of cars there.

GA allows the buyer to literally put a piece of paper in the license plate spot that says "Tag Applied For"...

Crazy.

AZ has a very simple 3-day restricted use permit that can be purchased online and printed out to put on the car...

Wow. That's great of AZ (and LOL GA). Buyer is figuring it out. I am not comfortable leaving my plates on the car. Anyway, cautiously optimistic. He is motivated.

And AF, I'm with you about getting the cars gone when the decision is made to sell them. We have a three-car garage, but only room to park two cars. So the wagon is clogging up the driveway. With a potential buyer coming, I won't drive it anywhere.

Why not? If he insures it, and you make some sort of legalese Bill of Sale.

When I sold my Volvo RV hauler, I let the new owner drive it home with my plates and registration, he mailed them back to me when he got it home.

I'd rather get ahead of problems than have to fix them later...If that's even possible. ;)

Fortunately no accident occurred otherwise you'd be stuck in a very bad situation.

You might not have owned the rv at that time but there is no doubt you'd be dragged in a lawsuit if an accident did occur.

My first reaction was that it was high - nearly 3x what mine cost! But then I realized mine is 6 years older, has 120k more miles, and mine's a 325.

Clearly the platform isn't old enough yet to lump them all into one bucket.

Tagless. Buyer called every trooper for each state he would pass through to get their OK.

2) Not really. There's some wheel bearing noise that I haven't yet resolved. And about once a month the radio doesn't work for the first 5 minutes until the iDrive manages to reboot itself. Other than that it's been solid.

I am, but that's not the point.
I thought you bought an old BMW, not a late model Ford. Huh.
