LATCH in an e36 M3

Has anyone here ever installed the LATCH kit in an e36 M3? Turns out I'm going to need it.

Congratulations!

And you won't need it, actually. LATCH can be more convenient than using the car's belts, but it is no safer--in fact, it's not rated for as much weight as the vehicle's belts. As long as you have locking retractors (which I believe E36 M3s do, no?), you'll be fine.

Unless, of course, you are looking for an excuse to buy a new car.

Thanks! We are pleased.

That's good to know on the LATCH thing. I could have sworn one of us installed it back in the day.

I don't think the e36 is going anywhere, but I'd love to add a 911 or Boxster. :D

EDIT: and we'll always have an X5-type thing for the family car. We're only 18 months away from my target replacement timeframe - time to start looking!

awesome, Congrats.

On the car seat thing, getting the base level with a lap/shoulder belt is a bit tricky, but to JST's point perfectly safe if done right (and the e36 rear belts do have locking retractors). If you have any trouble, you can take it to your local fire department, they're all trained and certified in proper baby seat installation.
