The Callaway twin-turbo "Sledgehammer" C4 went 254.76MPH. After being driven from Connecticut to Ohio. And after hitting that mark, it was driven back to Connecticut. With its factory radio and air conditioning, no less.
This Hemmings article is from a few years ago when it went up for auction. It didn't meet its reserve and I haven't read anything about it in the years since. This was one of those cars that was on my worship list as a kid. Doesn't seem like it was nearly 30 years ago. |

Did you post this for just me? hahaha
That car was at Carlisle - Callaway was the tribute theme this year. I really want one of their twin turbo setups. Too bad it'd cost multiples of what the car is worth. |
Given how nutty 60's musclecar pricing went a few years ago (and still is, to some extent), $600k doesn't sound totally unreasonable for that car, which, while relatively unknown outside car-freak circles, was pretty groundbreaking at the time.
What's a RUF CTR worth these days? |
I am waiting for a normal restored 68-69 4spd small block (327-350) Camero covertable to be a reasonable price but that probably won’t ever happen.
I was never a big fan of vette’s in the 80’s. |
What's a Camero?

Classic car values generally are stupid these days, but the 911 tax is especially insane.
I guess it should be heartening? It must mean the economy isn’t doing so bad. |
