No more Mazda. What’s next?
1st goal not to own the car outside of its warranty with TWO major engine manufacturing flaws has been accomplished. Before the very big recall that is sure to come. It’s a bummer, because I really like the car and such decent power. It’s possible I might buy another if and when it becomes clear they have fixed the problems and stood by the affected units (they sold a LOT of cars with the 2.5T last year.)
Next up, fun but practical family car that will also replace the 2. Terrible time to do this, but the Mazda CarMaxed for a new high. Still somewhat of a loss, but not horrible at all. (Now I have to hope the 2 keeps going until its service appointment, or at least until my kid shifts over to his other parent this Sunday. :ack:) I am prepared to limp along with just the 2 for as long as I need to. (It helps that it’s summer soon—at least here.) |
Congrats? :dunno:

I don't think there is a single best do-it-all car out there, but there should be at least a few does-everything-well-enough-to-do options in whatever your price range is...but you'll probably have to find a way to make peace with some uncertainty to let it work. We're all here to help you with that, though! |
Why not a Civic hatch to serve both as a commuter and a first car for the kid to learn on?

Commuting for him may be more of a factor for summer jobs; after school sports; or back and forth between households. Starter cars could be the easiest part of the equation—but still fun to contemplate. |

Ok I am shocked wtf happened to the Mazda and why is it gone … I don’t read current auto news so I have no idea why you got rid of it.
