Interesting 340i review

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tugnyd0sBmQ

Matt Farah does this youtube series where he drives various random cars each day (everything from custom muscle cars to 800 hp 335s to brand new cars such as this). I kind of enjoy them. Anyway, I enjoyed this review because the owner seems to an enthusiast and knows a lot about the 340 (particularly the new engine). Kind of intrigued me- will atleast have to test drive on at some point. As always with BMWs, the subject of leasing came up and the owner alludes to getting an excellent deal. That's always what makes it hard to walk away from BMW. If I can pick up a loaded 60k one for around 500 all-in at some point I'll probably be tempted.

Some highlights of the new engine:
-closed deck design
-air to liquid intercooler
-forged crankshaft
-mechanical water pump
-dedicated electric coolant pump for turbo (can keep coolant flowing after engine shutdown)

Sounds like it has the makings of a pretty stout, durable engine. Interesting that they made so many changes from the n55

Ugh, that ///M Performance badge on the dash.

And:

And that road is awesome

A little insubstantial chatter (this thing is fast, this thing is great, the power is right there) a passenger who wants to hear nice things about his car, and ... not much else ... what did I miss?

Ha- guess I oversold it a bit. The part I found interesting was the talk of the engine changes. Didn't realize that they had made so many changes vs the n55.

Well it worked. They made me want the car again.

Sort of. :ack:

Only tangentially related, but the lot at BMW of Fairfax was piled high with 330i's fresh off the boat.

Yeah I watch his show. I usually play it in the background as I browse the net.

340 sounds like a decent lease vehicle

I drove a 340 with the m performance package at the drive for a cure event last week ... I took the car for about 20 minutes ... It is a hell of a car, really fast, really responsive, great handling and I felt very in touch with the road.

It felt like a 3er should feel ... I have had a bunch of 328 loaners over the years and I've driven a few 335's and none felt like this.

Hmmmmmmm
