Is yours the same? From my couple of 991.1S test drives, I don't have memories of too much popping and banging (can there be such a thing? :eeps:), but I might not have tried 'Sport' for long enough.

Honestly I don’t know if mine is similar or not, I never drove a cayman or boxster other than the 1st generation boxster ... I would love to drive one just to see if I am more comfortable in that car than the first generation because other than the fact I needed an extra inch of seat travel that car(s) would have been perfect for me.
