equ What?! Holy crap, now that is a BEAST.

Optimus Prime BMW S1000R

I've been a bit of a lurker lately, but I picked this up last June and rode it everywhere. Including a trip to DC that saw me put just over 800 miles on in one day.

I've added bar end mirrors and high powered driving lights for night riding. This thing is a beast.

3LOU5 Took my g/f's bike to a lake about 25 miles north of where we live.

I've always like the addition of a nice-looking sissy bar.

3LOU5 The start of the 2013 Save The Tatas Motorcycle Rally. My bike is the one on the lower left flying the Stars and Stripes and a pink bandana, with my camo helmet sitting atop the sissy bar.

This was just prior to everyone starting their bikes. The sound of about 200 bikes with their engines idling in a small, confined space was DEAFENING, but glorious.

We ran the poker run backwards, to avoid the big groups usually associated with the event. Our group mainly consisted of about 7 bikes, which makes it a bit safer.

3LOU5 I realize that one thing cool about owning a Harley-Davidson motorcycle is being involved in a charity poker run like the Save The Tatas one held yesterday.

Not only are you doing a good, selfless thing, but there's just something about straddling a machine amongst almost 200 idling bikes with OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD exhausts at the start of the run. In fact, the THUNDEROUS cacophony of all of those bikes together was SO LOUD, I couldn't even hear my own bike !! The only thing I knew that it was idling was, of course, the vibration from between my legs.

Two notes I gathered from bikers, especially ones who ride Harleys:

(1) Babies like mother's milk "because of the containers". As a result, many of these bikers who are WELL over 40 STILL haven't been weaned from the "fun bags", "sweater puppies", "naughty pillows", etc.

I plead The Fifth.

(2) Not that I condone such practices but, if you happen to be at a Wet T-shirt Contest, please vote TWICE - one for the "STOCK" Class, and another vote for the "MODIFIED" Class. I mean, it's only fair, right ??

(BTW, my bike is the one on the lower left of the pic with the camo helmet on top of the sissy bar)

Also, I heard that they raised about $40,000 for this event. Bikers rule....

Sell that w650, and get a bike like this. Your g/f will love it:

3LOU5 If my doggie could ride, she would also choose a Harley.

3LOU5 I'm on the right, while my g/f's dad riding her bike is on the left.

This is what the area around my house is like. The slopes up ahead is Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, Tahoe's highest base resort, and is about 40 minutes from my driveway.

Can't wait to go riding again....

(Pic taken during one of the poker runs last year. The neat thing about this area was the incredible scent of pine as we were carving some turns).
