This was my first trip to a race shop and I have to say it was really wild; I felt like a kid in a candy store. I am already looking forward to going again next year.

Seeing the M3 GTR's up close was awsome. I just can't get over the size of the brakes...they are humongous. They also had a couple of older GTP cars and a 320 Turbo that they were building to run for BMW Mobile Tradition at several events like GoodWood.

We got to see the engine they will use at Daytona this year. We also spoke with one of their engine builders, he was a tool and die guy and before coming to PTG had never built an engine! An item of interest with regards to the engines is that they used the same motors all last season (without rebuilds.)

Tom Milner spoke about their move to GrandAm which he said was done partly because GrandAm really wanted BMW to be involved in the series and because he likes GrandAm's plans for the future. It was fairly easy to tell that he was rather bitter with SWC and all the penalties they faced last year.

As a side note, I was suprised to see a lack of technology around the shop. It's hard to believe they can accomplish so much with so few people and just basic tools and equipment.

Damn, i wish I could have gone. :( Sounds like a great trip.

One of the premier E30 M3 guys on the east cost is a man named Don Fields. He runs a shop called Mr. ///M Car in a private airport hangar in NJ. When you walk in, you see a lift, a nice set of tools, and that's it. No gee-whiz anything. But he truly works magic in there.
