This stuff has all but silenced the rubber-on-rubber squeaking that was happening due to convertible top seals rubbing against one another in cold weather. It's meant to lubricate and condition rubber parts, so it can be used on all sorts of auto-body gaskets like door seals. Good stuff! I never realized how much squeaking was going on just from the seals. Sh!t be quiet now... :D

I don't notice any squeaking (although I rarely have the top on :dunno: )

Is that the equivalent of the old BMW Gummipflege (sp?) I used that on my E36 and was simply amazed at the difference in noise.

Yes, it's basically the same stuff as Gummipflege which is NLA.

You don't have a true convertible. You have a toupe.

Hey John,

Thanks for the tip.

Is it available through hardware stores?

(on a side note, it's really nice here today, I think I'm going to put the top down one last time).

Hm. Well maybe your car doesn't have enough seals for you to notice the squeaking?

Ed, you have to get this stuff either online or through a Honda dealer. It has a Honda part number.

We should have a number of top-down days left this year... heck, I rode the motorcycle to work this morning. It stays out until the salt flies.

Hah I saw this title and asked myself "Why is this guy using thermal grease for CPUs on his convertible top?" It never even crossed my mind that Shin Etsu manufactures more than just awesome thermal grease.

Other than the relative lack of autocrossing in the winter, I love it. The only thing that sucks is Maryland basically doesn't get any snow in the winter.

Funny, I thought I had seen that used by our thermal engineers in my last job. That explains it.

Oh thanks for the heads up. I am halfway through my last tube of Gummipflege. I agree with JST. This also helps on the window seals in the E36 for the mysterious "auto up" not functioning properly.

On this, I agree 100%.

I'd rather have 33 deg rain than snow.

I disagree 100%. If it's gonna be cold, there better be snow.

So, where'd you get it (looks like a Honda parts depot) and how much is it?

BTW, found this thread over at the S2KCA Forum: http://www.s2kca.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10135

Cold is dumb.

Doesn't matter if there's rain, snow, sleet, ice, or wahtever else or nothing. Cold is just dumb.

And in just under a month I'll be in mine:

Not quite as exciting, but at least the lake guarantees that in addition to being ass cold, it will be snowy.

No way. Snow is awesome... Best time to be sideways, whether on snow tires or on skis :)
