Hi everyone -

I've had this on the market here locally for a bit - but thought I'd post this here just for fun....

Picasa Album (https://plus.google.com/photos/115289475148243565371/albums/5793080532437726209?authkey=COjKw93Vy9L30gE)

I have here a 1995 740i (E38) – Calypso Red.
A very rare color for a 7 series.

I am the third owner. I purchased the car in Sept 2004 from a friend of mine – a fellow BMW nut.

He bought it from BMW Bellevue as a lease return in late 2001. He didn't have much info about owner #1. It had about 55,000 miles on it at the time my friend bought it. As a part of the process, the engine was resleeved as it had the Nikasil problem. It now has Alusil sleeves. :))

My friend njoyed the car tremendously. But he was bitten by the ‘go faster’ bug. He was into racing BMW 2002’s and liked to have fun behind the wheel (of whatever car he is driving) – so…
Let’s just say this is not your Father’s BMW…
There are a few things here that you do NOT see on many E38’s.
In fact, I have never seen another E38 near to this one.

Mechanical:
• H&R Sport springs / Bilstein HD Shocks
• 3.46 Limited Slip Differential - VAC Motorsports
• Eisenmann Sport Exhaust
• StrongStrut (suspension support between front shock towers)
• UUC big brakes - front & rear
• Cold Air Intake from RevHigh
• AutoThority Engine Chip from RevHigh
• Upgraded Transmission Valve Body from ZF.
• M Parallel Wheels Chromed OEM
• Engine resleeved as noted above (BMW warranty back in 2001)

Trim and Interior:
• Crystal clear tail lights
• Clear sidemarkers
• Clear corners
• Chromelined headlights
• Chrome grill insert
• Chrome trunk lid trim
• Window tint
• Basslink subwoofer

Details on the car:
1995 740i
213,000 miles.
Runs GREAT. Burns no oil. None of my cars do – and this one is no exception.
Transmission serviced (filter changed and OE fluid used)
Brakes in good shape. Pads and Rotors done 20,000 miles back.

As to why I am selling it – I have another E38. My parents passed away some time ago and they had an E38 also. A 2001 740iL that I have now. I had the intentions of keeping both – but I really don’t need two of the same car.
So – As much as I would like to keep both, I must let one go. I literally thought about flipping a coin to see which one I would sell. But - the 2001 being the last car my parents had; there is a bit of a soft spot I have for that one. So - Here I am.

I do drive both. I have to say… The ’95 is tighter than my ’01. It really is. Even with the miles.

I am asking $6,500.

Thanks

Hmmm......

Kevin, what are the tire size(s) and what kind of MPG's do you see?

The tire sizes are staggered (18" on both front & back). I run a bit larger tire than stock. I'll get the sizes in the morning.
As to mileage.... High teens to 20 or so.

Been thinking about this a lot this week.

I have room for one more car, but I really should find a project car.

As much as I like the looks and what has been done to that car, it really doesn't need anything.

I'd love to take it for a test drive, but I would be wasting your and my time as it isn't what I should be looking for

It's weird. My dad had a 740iL briefly that he thought was really nice at first until he realized it was a piece of crap. I need to go back to San Diego soon to take care of some things and take some of dad's stuff back home. The idea of buying this, driving it down and then across the country as some kind of tribute to him—which would also include turning around and selling it immediately after getting it here (cuz he did that with a few vehicles, too, including the Armada I sold to him a few years ago)—has popped into my head more than once. It's not going to happen, but I've thought about it...

Pretty good.

Now get out of my way. I am busy taking over the world. Well - until the car is sold. Then some other guy can.

First person to look at it. He loved it.

Full price. He didn't even try to get me to move down $50

Thanks - He will.

He has '95 E38 as well. On with 300,000 miles plus.
He said that his car was never this clean - not even when he got it at the ~75k mark.
We went out for a test drive in the area - some fun roads here.
He did really get into some of the corners - and he had a grin that was priceless.

I must say - I will miss it.
Until the next repair bill would have come in.

It took a while to close this out - but the car is in Oregon now.
