View Full Version : Would you buy an "entry level" Ferrari?
http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/08/31/ferrari-mulling-entry-level-hardtop-convertible/
I assume "entry level" means ~100K. I also assume that this car would serve to replace the Maserati coupe, now that Maserati and Ferrari are no longer joined at the hip.
I think it would make for an great weekend/fun car. Like an uber-Boxster.:dunno:
EDIT: Seats 4? I guess it's more of a 911 cabrio competitor then.

i would.
until this vaporware, consider that the F430 is their "entry level" car. not bad for entry level, is it?
they don't seem to ahve a problem making their cars fill different niches no matter what the pricing point.

I might. I can't imagine spending that much money on a car, but for a Ferrari...:eeps:

personally, i just won't allow myself to own a ferrari until i'm 60 or so --everything after that could be a colossal letdown, so i'm challenging myself to explore other cars before i drive home in one. if they make an "entry level" car, that's even better. i have to choke sometimes when i explain to some non-car types how much the cheapest ferrari costs. then i explain to them that the actual cost is much higher to drive one off of a dealer lot.

And I tell you, the most frightening issue to me is maintenance/upkeep. Otherwise, I'd already be making room for the F355 I'd be buying in a few years.

If I had the discretionary cash for it, yea.
For now, I'll stick to looking for a golf cart that hopefully is sub $3K. :D

You might even be able get a custom ferrari body for you golf cart though...

Why do you need a golf cart?
And, no. I doubt that I would buy an "entry level" Ferrari.

Oddly enough, while I find the Ferraris very alluring and like them quite a bit they don't really get me excited at the prospect of really owning one. I don't know if it's the high cost or the maintenance involved or what. Not that I'll ever be in a position to contemplate owning one, entry level or not. :dunno:
Actually, I'm much more interested in seeing what Porsche does with their Panamera and how well that turns out as a sport sedan. Given how well their other cars handle and such it should be quite interesting. But again, not a car I'll be able to afford. so . . .

well.
the one thing that Ferrari has proven in the past (but might not apply in the New Ferrari Thinking) is that they are unafraid to allow their "base" car have exceptional performance, the F430. many regard it as the world's best sports car, bar none.
and Porsche simply cannot say that and will not allow that for its "entry/base" cars --until then, i will refuse to give any 987 chassis serious thought.

Problem with Ferraris is not the cost of buying, but the cost of keeping them running.
While I would love to own one, for the maintenance cost alone, I could own a couple of other great fun cars.

For $150 large or whatever that thing costs, I would hope it'd have exceptional performance. :ack:
