View Full Version : Damn, some good deals to be had on V70R's...

9K off?
12K off if leasing?
Why wait for a potential 335xiT? There is already a roomy 300hp/300lb-ft wagon to be had for less than what BMW would ask for a 335xiT.

Volvo has some problems with the entire S60/V70 line... the problem is that they aren't selling. I've been told by some people that work for Volvo dealers that Volvo has greatly increased the dealer cash on these models and has sent them the message that Volvo is worried about their success with this car.
Even with 12k off on a lease, it still isn't that great of a deal when the 36 month residual is ~40%!
The secret is this: look over the lease terms very carefully. So long as the bank you are using doesn't charge pre-payment penalties, the way to save that extra $3k and still "buy" the car is to sign up for a lease and then pay it off a few months later. Your payoff is based on a lower cap cost thanks to the greater rebates they offer on leases.

Well, how does a 328xit / 328it sound? ;)
I've heard rumors but nothing reliable... who knows?

'Fil,
Can you please give me a "real" trade-in value for a 2005 9-2X Linear with 18.5K miles, Winter pkg, Premium Pkg, manual tranny, in silver with some wear and tear? :eeps:
KBB "good" condition says $17K.
Edmunds "clean" condition says $17.4K.
THANKS!:D

"GALVES HAS NOT ESTABLISHED A VALUE ON THIS VEHICLE DUE TO LIMITED OR UNSTABLE MARKET ACTIVITY."
Based on recent auction results from Manheim, I'd say $12,000 is a close number.
my guess on galves value: $12,000
Not that it would surprise me anymore, but the car DID MSRP for $27K and it is less than 2 years old. I got an absurd discount and it still cost $20.5K.
I see cars like mine for sale for $18K without the $2K premium pkg. You're telling me dealers offered ~$11K for a car that they turn around and ask 18K for? I just don't buy it.

There are at least 10 of them that have sold at auction in the past couple of months with various mileage, 8k to 34k miles, and they've sold anywhere from $13,000 to $15,000. After paying various expenses to get the car to the auction and then sell it there (recon, transportation, auction fees), I'd want to be $1,000 less than what I expect it to sell for to break even. Mileage doesn't really seem to matter... some cars with more miles actually bring more money, I think it has more to do with equipment and transmission. The most that a manual car did was $13,700.

$11,000 plus some recon and service bills, and that car now costs the dealer $13,000 (hypothetical). And, take that $18,000 "asking" price and haggle a bit with the dealer, and you could likely buy that car for $15,000-16,000. Reality of the business is that the dealer never makes what you *think* they make (like you think that they are making $7k in this case). End of the day, they are probably showing a $2-3k profit.

I understand they dont get to sell the car for 18K, more like 16K, but I did not realize the 2K expense, I guess.
Anyhow, I suppose it can't be that hard to get 17K for my car privately (installed hitch bar and full set of winter tires).
