Is the second one in case the first one breaks down?

I saw that posted elsewhere with no sourcing provided.

As it reads, it's a little less than I expected. A pretty loaded copy will still break $65K. But I had expected a loaded copy to be closer to $68-70K.

I do expect pricing on a loaded copy to touch $70k. BMW pricing structure now points right there with the new M3.

It's just another way to add weight.

Like TD, I saw this posted elsewhere without attribution. It seems plausible, but then again it would have taken me 15 minutes to bang out an equally plausible list of prices, so who knows?

I'm more interested in availability, and even more interested in any word on an E90 M3, but maybe that is too much to hope for.

I too am wondering about the E90 M3. can BMW justify as many different bodystyles as the E36 M3 with $65k-$70k stickers?

Wow, I am surprised by you guys. I figured you'd all think that price would be so low that you'd dismiss this info right away.

I am amazed that the base price is sub 60K. Sure, there are plenty of fancy options that will bring the price through the stratosphere, but the "normal" options have vanilla 3er pricing. A nice copy can be had for 60K. Not to say that is cheap, but mush less than what I was expecting.

I realistcally have little chance of owning one (and at that, I'm only mildly interested in the sedan), but given the RS4, I expected it to be more.

For 60K out the door, I rather pick up a very nice 987S in Germany.

310#ft of torque. i'm sure it will be executed better than it looks on paper. but at that figure, my temptation to be in the line to get one is sort of dying.

Is this pricing from BMWNA?

(nevermind I didn't have a chance to read Lemming's post)

Ah, leftlanenews did a cut and paste as the rear sunshade is there twice as well.

Do you think there is a snowball chance in hell that the car will weigh in at 3300?

That would be pretty cool, and we might consider it.

I love SMG.

i want to know the curb weight, dammit.

i'll guess 3600lbs.

Stuka will be happy. CF roof means no sunroof, I would think.

Given the list of equipment that is std on the 335 and optional on this list, 36XX lbs *might* be possible for one with no options, but I am still betting it's closer to 3800.

Shall we start a pool on how much the e92 m3 will weigh? Or at least a poll with choices every 50 lbs from 3200 lbs up to 4000 lbs?

If that pricing is accurate, I may have to drop the "overpriced" bit from my anti-m3 rant as the base car starts becoming a reasonable value.

Interesting.

No, if it's 3800 pounds, CF is for posing only and serves no real purpose.

Much like the M6.

let's start the poll or at least have a "paper trail" so that we can see who was the closest to BMW's "official" curb weight.

FC
08-17-2006, 09:20 PM
why?

Because, IMO, it's still a lot of money to spend on a sedan for what (from what we know and assume) it offers ME over my 330i.

I'm still not totally closing the door on it, but I think for 60K+ I rather keep the 330i and ADD a lightly used (new) '07+ 987S when the time comes.

Life may, as always, change everything. But right now my commute is very short and my wife doesn't drive to work, so a wagon and a sports car seem more than enough, and if we MUST have a 2nd 4+ seater, might as well hang on to the 6+ year old 330i that I took care of and owned sicne new.

you're going to have to drive both cars with me (the 335 and the e92 m3). my suspicion is that BMW rolled out the 335 for peeps like me and you (4doors, lots of torque) and the new M3 might just not be for "us".

combination of high curb weight and not so high torque is not my own personal recipe for driving happiness.

Oh, and I love how they kept the same damned wheel sizes all around, but surely this car is gonna be heavier than the E46 M3.

Progress!!

The more I think about it, the more I think this is all crap. When was the last time pricing was leaked before availability dates? Or pictures of the final car?

I would take all of these specs (including the wheel sizes) with a grain of salt the size of my dinner table.

Ironically, it was the wheel/tire specs that really triggered my BS detector. I also have a hard time believing something like Logic 7 is optional on the M3 when it's standard on a 330i.

I'm guessing someone took the E92 328i option sheet and made some edits.

The Logic7 thing wouldn't surprise me--remember, there was a lot of kit std. on the 330 that was optional on the E46 M3 (power seats, HK audio, sunroof, etc).

That's the only way I can see they might be able to keep the "official" weight on the M3 down to reasonable levels.
