by their own homies.
good thing you snapped that GT2 up and stuff.
it sounds like Porsche lied about the weight "decrease", too. they keep complaining about the portly weight of the 997tt in this article, too. i thought it was odd because it's not that much heavier than the 996tt. note also the lag they observed in the spooling of the turbos....

The Turbo has become much too tame and sterile by the 996 iteration. The 993 Turbo will do exciting sideways action if you wanted, the 996 Turbo just plain won't do it.
I think Top Gear said something about how driving a Turbo is totally non drama like ordering a beer from your average dive bar, whereas something like a Lambo is like ordering a drink from a hip night club where it takes some effort to get the drink, then there's spillage, but the scenary is better, and the experience is better.
I still think that they need to make GT2 the base car, and AWD, PTM, PSM, PASM the "boulevard cruising" option.

I haven't read Excellence yet, but all other mags, including Evo, that evaluated keep mentioning that the 997 is "nervous", "uneasy" at track speeds with a lot of understeer past apex. 993TT being fun to drive, 996TT being unexciting to drive and now we have the nervous bitch 997TT; I guess Porsche's "pendlum" is still swinging :D

These are the same people that said that GT2's are undriveable sideways monsters.
GT2's are fine if you have some DE's.
The 997 Turbo is heavier, has even more electronics, PTM, PASM, PSM, come on, it cannot be more involving to drive. Keep in mind that unlike BMW where DSC is fully defeatable, PSM is not, neither is PTM.

i love the idea of the Turbo, but as time goes on, i lean more and more toward the GT3. less is more, to me.
and the dope that i am, the GT3 is also raced and that's part of the lure, too.

Can't argue with that :) But, I have to say, I really did not imagine I would have as much as I am with the Cayman - even though GT3 is in a completely different league - that the GT3 right now feel like a very moot point to me :o

there's a reason that Porsche supercar was/is mid-engined. that's all i have to say.
but until they relent and cede some of the 911 heritage for an all-out superior car......
