(Boy, the DIY topics just keep coming...)

Has anyone used Sea Foam or something similar, like the shop-only BG stuff? Did it actually make a difference?

I used it in the Oilhead and it worked well. About 4 times a year, I'd add half a can in a tankful. It seemed to keep the carbon buildup down very well.

Guys over at Jeepforum use it and swear by it. I haven't tried it myself yet, though.

Seafoam seems to be the topic du jour on the e36 m3 bimmerforums board as well.

I use it as a fuel stabilizer in the motorcycle tank every winter before storage. It's done a great job at that.

I used to use it as a periodic carb cleaner. I used it as a top-end cleaner when I had the SHO and that thing had zero carbon buildup when I pulled the heads later. Dunno if it was related or not.

The motorcycle community swears by it as a carb cleaner.
