they look beautifully stitched, though.

that's a nice car.

wonder how much clutch life is left, though --some people really beat the holy hell out of their clutches and i'd hate to be in that situation again EVER. it's almost a reason why i couldn't ever buy a used car again.

It's actually not *that* orange in real life. It's just that it was VERY orange in the ad pics.

Whoa, did you buy that thing?

Whoa, did you buy that thing?
No. At least not yet.

This particular copy is quite loaded and carried a sticker over $47K. :cough: :cough:

I didn't just win the lottery or anything. $47K is not happening.

However, my wife really wanted to drive one, extensively, so she went to the dealer on her own and made off with this one. 1.7 miles on the odo.

Our intent is now to negotiate either a doable price or find a good used copy. Odds of getting to a doable price are slim, however.

But I expect the Saab and 323iC to be sold/gone by the end of the coming week. And the V70R is the very likely addition. We'll borrow my dad's E39 again if we end up with a gap in two-car coverage.

So, ANYONE, what is the going rate relative to invoice for Volvos?

Without any dickering whatsoever, they offered that car to my wife for $5K off sticker, which happens to be about $2K below invoice.

Understanding that they aren't losing money at that price, I'd love to have a sense of how much lower they can go. I hate negotiating out of my ass.

But if I can get a brand new car for ~$40K, that does top a 2-year old copy for $30K IMO, especially for my wife who wants to keep cars forever.

I hear 3K under invoice is doable on slushy's. See below.

Yeah, I still keep an eye on them.:eeps:

I actually like the orange seats, but my wife wouldn't. I just know it.

Yup.

Not just a Volvo wagon but an R as well.

I thought it was quite odd myself.

all I could get from volvo was a .pdf with the plan pricing. you will have to add it up with the options. V70 R M is near the end of the pdf

We did when we bought ours. It had been sitting there a long time, too. It doesn't have many options, but I think we paid something like $22k for it.

Our local Volvo dealer never has any V70 R's in stock. I went in and told him to give me a call when he got one (MT OR AT). That was months ago and no call.

Just for clarification, we do not have an R. The opposite, in fact.

Having said that, in all of my car buying experiences, a salesman has actually called me when an appropriate car came in ONE time (I bought htat car, too). And I have bought a lot of cars. Most people have moved on, changed their mind, or bought one some place else by the time they call back. You can't rely on them to call you, you have to keep looking.

I know. I do a drive by everytime I drive past it. No dice for about a year running. Last time I saw one there it was the day before my wedding when my parents were having issues with their XC70 as we were about to leave for Montreal.

Nope. Dazzel (sp?) in Dedham. But admittedly I've not looked hard all over.
