Brilliant idea to put the gridded cars so close to the track. :banghead:

Those cars are way too close to an active track.

That Evo totaled an NSX? This could be the beginning of an import war.

The best part of this story hasn't even arisen yet.

How do you suppose the Evo guy is going to pay for an NSX and a G35...not to mention his own car?

His liability ins. should cover the nsx and g35, right?

I seriously doubt it. Most insurance co's will not cover anything "at a venue designed for speed."

You are also assuming he has enough insurance to pay for 2 or 3 cars.

Yup.

You can talk with him here (http://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/349269.phtml) and here (http://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/349315.phtml)

or the instructor here (http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22812&page=4)

Who says he's going to pay? He's going to claim poor grid setup and tell the club or track to pay for his own car as well.

Unless the G35 and NSX guy get a good will gift from their insurance company, I think they're all hosed.

Exactly.

Reading the threads posted above, the guy basically admited to racing out there. He should have kept quiet about the whole thing instead of making himself liable.

If you're on track, and someone makes a mistake and causes a wreck, can the others sue him for damages?

I don't mean if he's driving recklessly... just an honest (but stupid) mistake, like this seems to be.

I'm guessing the paperwork you sign says you can't sue anyone, but who knows if that holds up.

But was it such an honest mistake?
From the audi forum:

It was just a drivers mistake. Overboosted confidence. An attempt to run away from closing S4.

We were wheel to wheel for two days picking on each other after every session. It was never suppoused to be anything like a competition. On the last lap of the final session he was doing his best to run away from me. Its hard to say who won...

You know, I almost wish I'd been on track with him at the Glen. I would not have minded creasing his sheet metal a bit. :eeps:

I bet he wouldn't be saying, "it was an innocent mistake, stuff happens" if it happened to him.

There's no rumratt here. :eeps:

But I don't "keep up" with elise talk and rx8club.. or anywhere but here actually. I just go there occasionally or, in this case, when someone forwards me a link.

I also check the classifieds at fanatics daily, and the classifieds and track forum at bimmerforums.

The only problem is that I'd never be able to do it in a good way - He'd never get near me in a corner (unless he happened to be on his way to an agricultural excursion).
