be selling that well in my area. I just stopped by one of the local dealers to check it out and they have 15 or so on the lot.

Some dealers have a lot full of them and some of them only have a few. The dealer that where I bought mine had about 30 of them. Their original forecast was for 30,000/year in the US (60k worldwide) and they're selling them at a rate of about 2,500/mo here. They dealers are just bringing them in a lot faster than that...which is going to cause problems for everyone if they don't do a better job of balancing things.

Funny, because the car is getting pretty much universal praise and is well priced. Guess they're just flooding the market. A friend of mine got one for just a little over invoice. You'd think Mazda would manage supply a little better, to make a bit more money from the sale than that.

Hey, we usually have this conversation about how crappy BMWs are selling b/c they have some on the lot.

it is very difficult to get people to buy a 30,000 dollar mazda. just like it is difficult to get people to buy 32,000 dollar S2000s.

it is also not a great time of year --it's xmas. people are thinking about other people first, plus the wintertime, in MOST of the country, the rx8 is not necessarily going to be first on a lot of peoples' shopping lists.

I just stopped by the local Honda dealer, and they have just a ton of Accords on the lot! That's too bad; they must not be selling well...

Define a ton, please...I'm assuming that you mean more than 2,000 lbs. :P

I would guess that 30 Accords do not last at a dealer as long as 30 RX-8s. The question is whether supply and demand is well balanced.

I have yet to see one on the road...

I've seen four; two in the Udistrict, one on I-5, one on the east side.

The east side one was that... blue...

They're getting quite visible around D.C. And despite my initial distaste for the styling, I'd have to say that I like it from most angles now. Not bad, especially not for the price.

i like the rx8 styling. it resembles the other mazda cars and the design doesn't have a lot of bloat --looks very taut to me.

maybe robert cumberford of automobile might think a lot of the design cues are passe, but i like them.
