Thanks for your opinions earlier.
I ordered an E90 325i manual, with Premium Package, Sport Package, and adaptive head lights. I didn't really want the last option, but this is the last available 325i manual in Canada, and the next 325i bound for Canada will be build in Mar. It's Sparkling Grey with Black Leatherette interior. Currently in Saskatoon, it should be in town within 5 to 10 days.

Congrats.
Sparkling gray is the best E90 color IMO.

It looks exactly like the E46 steel grey, IMO.
And as I had a steel grey/black 330i, I couldn't see doing it again.
Ed- What becomes of your 328Ci?

Sparkling Graphite is definitely darker with more gold colored metallic flakes visable in direct sunlight.
They both can look flat (dull) without sunlight, but no doubt Sparkling Graphite is a shade or two darker than Steel Grey.
Congrats Ed!

It's still having its subframe repaired. I traded it in to the dealer who is helping me with the repairs.

that's good news.
not so for the sucker who gets the car at auction, but for you, that's good news.

:+1 except for the part about the "gold flakes"... I can not confirm that as I've never seen a Sparking Grey up close and personal.
Steel grey/black E46 330i (mine) vs Sparkling graphite/black E90 330i (not mine)

for the love of Christ. that weird cutline at the door handles is unnerving to me. gratuitous metal bending.

Which is why mine will be black.

I suppose in my ever increasing age that things are just not as apparent to me or maybe I am becoming more relaxed  . Nope, it can't be that.

I have Sparkling Graphite and I know exactly what he means... it has a metallic shine in the sun and can have a gold or slightly purple shade depending on the lighting conditions. Steel Grey, on the other hand, always looks like a pure Grey regardless of lighting.

even in black i dislike that cutline, but to my eyes, much better. after all, i drive a CTS, so it is what it is.

Congratulations, Ed. A great car and a great spec. Enjoy.

Seems to me E90's are more vulnerable to door dings, no?
Not sure how they'd incorporate the protective strip, but it always looked good on the E46.

Yep. And wear and tear to the bumper--no protective strip there either. I may hold onto my black-on-black e46 forever. It has the protective strips, but because of the body color, they blend right in.

Actually, an early E46 with a repaired subframe is better than an early E46 without a repaired subframe. BMW reinforced that area substantially for MY01 (I think), because it was seriously fucking fragile. If you assume that it will fail, a repaired car that's probably a fair bit stronger than it used to be is a rather definite plus.

Crap. Another thing to worry about. I am buying 3m clear bar for this car though. Won't help with doors of course, but should help with rock chips. After 6+ years, my 328Ci's front end is fairly pock marked.
