would it be insane for a person to have two 7.0 litre v8s in the same driveway?

The current Cadillac CTS-V isn't the BMW M5 killer General Motors hoped it would be. With the introduction of the more powerful 2006 M5, the CTS-V is 100 hp off the mark. Add in its lame interior and its vague steering and the Caddy's $50,000 price doesn't look like such a bargain.
I thought the CTS-V went up against the M3. :dunno:
lemming: Um, no. Never.:D
General comment: How is the CTS-V currently NOT a bargain?:?
The 7L seems a bit insane for the CTS-V. The STS-V engine would be deadly enough with ~470hp. No need for a dry-sumped engine on a 4000lb sedan.

Aren't the weak points of the current CTS-V, the wheel hope problem, and it's low rent interior? A bigger engine will not solve these issues.

my guess is that the new V won't be unveiled until the next gen car which, like the SRX, is shipping with a brand new interior. don't know if they will manage to fix the wheel hop issue, though. my guess is that they will have learned something from the c6 by that time to factor into the newer chassis. but it's GM, after all.
if you've been in a new STS/DTS or a new Lucerne interior or the new Yukon, you'll see what i mean about nicer interiors. MUCH NICER.
The interior is actually pretty decent with pretty good materials. It just doesn't look like it. The wheel hop is present, but the issue is way over blown unless you want to drag race your car. It very rarely shows itself in canyon driving (although I have felt it a lot more as my tire replacement date of the first weekend in March gets nearer . . . )
The weak point is the exploding differential. Supposedly fixed for '06. If they could upgrade the suspension, that would be good, but I haven't noticed any particular suspension shortcomings.
Oh, another weak point might be the lack of ability to align it aggressively enough. But maybe it was the mechanic.

wider rear tires would be nice.
245s in back are just a joke.

i've often wondered why the current car is only shod with 245s all around. it makes for a nice tail wagging creature, but i wonder how much space there actually is on the current chassis to go much wider.
and 'Nando, it's 3850#s, not 4000.
