It's looking good, hopefully it'll drive like the previous one.

(Oh, and the turbo still looks crass. But it's not as much of a :m3 as before)

EDIT: PASM and Traction Control standard?

Traction control standard.:wtf:

The wussification of the 997 is complete.

I am dead set against PSM because there is no way that you can completely turn it off, it is not like BMW, which can be completely switched off.:irate:

The DIN on my car is 3415, the DIN on the 997 Turbo, and I have the FedEx mini picture card from PCNA in front of me, is 3494.

So, unless they changed the way they do DIN weights, the report from R&T where they quote the new Turbo being lighter is completely false.

Here are the rest of the specs:

480HP
460 lb-ft
505 lb-ft only if you get the Sport Chrono Turbo package
3.7 0 to 60 for clutch
3.4 0 to 60 for tippy magic tronic.:wtf:

3.4 0 to 60 for tippy magic tronic.:wtf:

The later figure is not with the Tiptronic, but with PDK squential shifter.

i'd always skip the Turbo for the GT3 or GT2.

i'm just not a fan of the AWD on the 911s.

415hp in the GT3 is amazing and it is still dry sump, after all. no listing of te weight, but i don't doubt that it will be right about 3100 pounds?

the interior shot of the GT3 looks very familiar to me. anyone who has sat in the new c6 interior will know who they benchmarked. ;)

If you can't turn off traction control completely, as it is with all P car PSM, it is no GT3. :irate:

Can't completely turn PSM off? Wussy indeed. Didn't know that. I did know that on Boxsters with PSM, when it was turned off the only thing still there was the active brake differential, obviously not needed on a 911 with an LSD.

stuka boy didn't think the new 997 GT3 would have a dry sump engine, either, so i'd wait and see how defeatable the new PASM is. for some reason, i tend to think that on the GT2 and GT3, it will be.

for obvious reasons, you could guess why it wouldn't be defeatable on the TT --it's the same reason they package the TT with awd.

Regular 997's cannot be spec'ed in the US with LSD. BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

It remains to be seen whether PCNA will allow you to spec it on the sunroofed, PASM, PSM, NAV loaded "GT3."

Wow, that's F'd up.

Late 60s muscle cars had "posi" fercryinoutloud... and you can't get it on a base 911? :ack:

wiseguy is also implicitly pointing out that there are no LSDs on the front or rear axle of the TT's, either.

LSDs are only found on the GT3 and GT2.

Yeppers, though there is no guarantee that it is an orderable option on the 997. Much like since PCNA did not crash test non sunroof shell 997's, the GT3's will have to come with sunroof.

NAV, PSM, PASM, sunroof, and hell, why not tippy magic tronic too.

here's where i point out that the LSD is a $190 option on the solstice.

:D

.....and it's standard on the solstice GXP (as is the 3.73:1 rear end ratio and sub 5.5 second to 60mph time).

Sigh. :(

See what I mean about taking control away from the driver? It must drive the Germans positively nuts they still have to offer manual trannies in their cars.

I wonder what the cover of Car&Driver will look like in 50 years?

Maybe it'll be called Car and/or Driver and feature, for its premier road test, the ace 1600 highway auto-glide chain doo-hicky and how to modify it so it'll keep your car a comfortable distance from the others while you and your family watch Star Trek reruns in oxygenated comfort.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA, sunroof is now an option even in Europe.

And probably standard in the U.S. because PCNA did not crash sunroof less shells here.

The poseurification is now complete.

Update on the Turbo saga. My sales guy that sold me the Turbo is looking to see if he can trade it in for a GT2/3.
