On E30 M3s, apparently, given that everyone is barfing over how great a deal this one is at 28.5.

Should have bought Blee's when I had the chance.

I should get off my ass and get a 3.2 Carrera or 964 before I totally miss the boat on those, too.

I feel constant regret for letting that car get away. Especially given that it probably got pretty much trashed shortly after he sold it to that kid...

WTF?!

I still remember an old R&T article from ~ the turn of the millennium that had the E30 M3 as one of the best cars for under $10k. Would have been hard even then to find a good one for 10K, but still.

Kinda OT: Assuming no funny stuff happens, I am starting to feel I can drive this 997TT for 5 years and sell it for what I paid. People will always want an affordable 997TT, especially with a Mezger. Heck, it's hard to find any 996TT for near 40K regardless of year or mileage.

I thought the rule of thumb was $15k for a good one? When did that stop being the case?

About 5 years ago they started climbing hard. Now it's the $25-30k rule.

the e30m3? it's a historic car. i get that. awesome handling. almost infallible. high strung engine, though, and pretty damn small displacement to be happy at anything less than WOT. i love the way it handles on the track. but i'd kill myself if i had to drive one on an every day basis because of reedy nature of the power delivery.

15k yes.

25k, i'm not sure i agree, especially in a bone stock. for a car with non factory interior and repainted, that's silly money.

i guess my question is, how much will they appreciate in the next 5 to 10 years? this car has been too massaged to be worth anything, and if you are going to spend 28k, get a factory original.

just my worthless 2 cents.

It's seems to me used cars have really taken a jump up since last year. I definitely sold the M3 too cheapily. Although last year it was on the low side of the reasonable range. Now the low-mileage unmolested ones are commanding a premium--pretty much exactly what I paid for mine three years ago.

Used cars are crazy expensive, which is why we will likely go new with the LR4. Add to that that there are very little discounts to be had on Land Rovers, and people are asking for 1yo cars within a couple of K off a brand new one. 2yo's are less than 10k from new without CPO on 50K+ cars.
