View Full Version : Speak now...
...or forever hold your peace (or is it piece - wait, that's something different entirely).
I'm probably going to switch my steering wheel and headlights back to stock this weekend and yank the XM in anticipation of just dumping the car off to either the dealer or Carmax within the next week or so.
If any of you do have any interest in buying my M3 for any reason SPEAK NOW. I'll let it go pretty cheap and I'd prefer it go to a good home (even if that home strips it and makes it into a track car).
Also, the steering wheel is spoken for but if anyone wants some ZKW ellipsoid headlights or the Pioneer XM unit, let me know that as well.
Post or PM me what "pretty cheap" means and I'll let you know.
It's a '98 with 79K miles. Very clean and most of the common failure/wear items have already been repaired/replaced.
I'd probably list it for $15K on AutoTrader. But to me, skipping the hassle of selling it through ads, etc is definitely worth knocking a chunk off of that. So PM me with an offer.

Can you describe the XM? Will it work in an 03 E46?

A couple of years ago when I was thinking of selling my M3, I posted an "ad" here to try to sell the XM.
Here's what I've got- http://forums.carmudgeons.com/showthread.php?t=2369
Although I'm inclined to hang on to the CD changer.
And, of course, I'd take a lot less $ for it now. Make an offer.

I had a setup identical in every way to TD's (we bought them at the same time from the same source) that worked perfectly in my 2002 M3 (with Nav, but with this setup, it doesn't matter).
The one fly in the ointment is that you have to run the controller wire up to the center console. This actually wasn't that big of a deal in the M3--I ran it under the backseat, pressed it under the trim molding on the door, up under the steering wheel, and into the ashtray area. It was totally invisible and probably took 15 minutes to run.
This also means you lose your ashtray, but the ashtray is the perfect place for the Pioneer control unit, and you can close the ashtray and the unit disappears completely.
IMHO, this is the best aftermarket XM solution for a non-satellite radio BMW. In some ways, I even prefer this setup to the integrated XM Direct system I have in the 05, since this Pioneer control unit could be set to always display artist or track information, whereas the XM Direct system requires a button push to display that info.
Here's my thread on the 'fest from when I put it in:

I'm sure most people around here know this, but what color is it?
Cosmos black w/black Nappa interior.
I have no pics on my hard drive here at work. I'll see if I can find any I attached to posts at some point. Worst case, I'll post a couple when I get home tonight.

So, why are you selling it?

03 E46's should have the Sirius pre-wire in them... The XM Direct solution should be your best bet since it has full integration in the car...
So, why are you selling it?
I've had it for 4.5 years and have finally decided to get a new car.

Great Jehosophat, man! Where have you been; on a one week drunk?
The whole country is talking about this development. Why, last night my local station here in Indianapolis even broke in with a special announcement about this during the middle of the Grammy Awards presentation. I think even Bono mumbled something regarding this story during his acceptance speech for one of the awards U2 picked up.
I'm not trying to be critical, but you've got to try and keep up with current events like this!
j/k of course.
:D
Here's a linky to some of what's been going on. Just start at the beginning of that thread if you want all the juicy details.

Agreed, that's the way I'm currently leaning.
