So, I was driving somewhat zealously through Rock Creek Park (the only pleasurable driving I really get to do), when I get nabbed by a Park Police officer with a radar gun. He pulls me over, and says something about the German engineering getting away from me. Then he spys the stick shift and says, "Well, at least it's a five speed." Then he gives me a warning instead of a ticket.
Another argument against automatic transmissions!

That and the fact when they crap out @ 152,XXX miles. I got the E34 back yesterday and I made it within a mile from my home when it locked up. It began slipping a few weeks ago and a former BMW Tech had attempted to band-aid it. Obviously it did not work, now I am in the market for a used tranny.

I'm expecting it will probably another grand into the money pit.
Sounds like you got pretty good mileage on yours. I heard they give up around 100,000.

I had heard the same thing, but I have heard of some getting 200,000 plus out of theirs.
Bavarian Auto Recycling has used auto trans with the torque convertor that have been cleaned and inspected. 1 year/12,000 mile warranty for $995 More than likely this is the route I will go. :ack:
Edit: I'd sell the damn thing for salvage, but I have too much money invested in it.
