I'm selling the Atom and figured I'd give folks here a shot at it before I send it off to a dealer. Here's a for-sale listing I wrote up back in 2011:
http://www.tmk.com/transient/atom-for-sale.pdf

I'll sell the whole kaboodle to a fellow 'mudgeon for $65K. Here's an older picture - since this was taken there have been many upgrades, including changing all of the matte black panels to carbon fiber. Look at the linked PDF for a better idea of what all is included.

Drool!!!

Impossible for me right now since I just got a Turbo and have a garage to build, but if this had come up in 3 years, I would be very tempted to pull the trigger.

Someone would probably take that Turbo off your hands. Just saying.

Not that I'm doubting you given that I know next to nothing about these cars, but why would a 2006 model with quite a few miles appraise for over $100k when a new one can be had for $56k (admittedly with a different engine - Honda 2.4L)?

Wow. Good luck with sale, TMK. I HAVE to see this car before it's gone. What's next?

Nice thing about posting this car is you don't need multiple pictures - one shot is all it takes to see everything - it's like a rolling cutaway drawing ;)

Good luck with the sale Terry. I'm one of those that met up with you on your first Atom Across America trip when it was new -- still appreciate the short parking lot ride.

I'd love to get an Atom some day. But I'd need another garage space first, and $60k for a track toy is well out of place for me...

You're comparing a stripped model that is the bare minimum to move under its own power with a fully-optioned (and then some) car. A couple of years ago (before several rounds of price increases), I configured a car as close to mine as possible (a number of options are simply not available any more, like the individual Recaro seats, plumbed-in FIA fire extinguisher system, MicroDash with datalogger, etc.) from the current builder and ended up at over $119,000. And that doesn't include any of the other improvements, like the heavy-duty billet uprights, completely redesigned turn / marker / brake lights (from the factory you still get the '50's Range Rover ones), dual on-board video recorders, etc. nor any of the spares and service materials (2 brand new seats, 4 new tires + wheels, 7000-page service manuals, diagnostic PC, and so on). Take a look at the PDF for a better idea.

How low does it sit on the ground ?? Do you have any problems with speed bumps ??

BTW, it's too bad we missed each other when you were in Reno, 'cuz I would've paid for your dinner in exchange for a ride around Lake Tahoe.

Ride height is pretty adjustable. I've never had a problem with speed bumps anywhere I've driven in 30K+ miles, and I have it set pretty low*. The only time clearance is an issue is in some driveway / parking lot entrances where there's an extreme angle down to the street. I've done some unplanned off-road driving (Santa Fe Trail - Wagon Mound Cutoff) courtesy of Microsoft Streets & Trips and it did fine, even on dirt + rocks.

* The Top Gear UK requirement for it to go on the board is if it can get over a (large) UK speed bump without scraping.

True. The issue is that while I know where I'll be on any given day, I can't pinpoint exactly when on that day I'll be there.

RARE CAR CRASHES; TWO CRITICALLY HURT
By Susan Shroder5:06 a.m.Dec. 25, 2014

RANCHO SANTA FE — A 21-year-old Rancho Santa Fe man was critically injured and his passenger also suffered major injuries when a speeding sports car, a rare Ariel Atom, went out of control on a curve on Christmas Eve and struck an SUV head-on, California Highway Patrol officers said...

Unfortunately, the driver passed away. No word yet on the seriously-injured passenger.

My car went to its new owner back in March. Unfortunately, despite the buyer having lots of track time in his 800HP+ custom C5 'vette, he found out he can't deal with the G forces in the Atom (he even went to his doctor about it). So he has it for sale.

Missing a number of engineering changes (some of which are critical and no longer available) and not the 11th car built. More like the 28th. No rollbar, meaning it won't be allowed on some tracks.

Here's what I wrote to someone who asked me about it when it was first announced:

They had to do something to expand the market because there has been more and more of a DMV backlash against the Atom all around the US. Plus, the first person to be killed in an Atom in the US just died the other day. So expect even more pressure from the DMV.

And they're pricing themselves out of the market for the Atom - when you could buy a complete one for under $40K, it was a fun car at a good price. With some Atom builds now over $120K, there are a lot more fun cars in that price range.
