Same platform as the V40, meaning AWD, five cylinder engines, etc.

I like it--it avoids the somewhat weird bulbousness of the sedan.

I'd love to see specs on interior volume. But it looks good.

It is ok. Looks a bit like a hybrid of a V70 and an A6. It is better than the sedan.

Volvo has come a long way though....

too bad they aren't RWD anymore...

i miss those old boxy volvos, too.

the first generation rounded bodystyles needed some work, and this latest S40/V50 is a better evolution of it, i think.

i've got nothing against volvo, but their AWD systems are lame in the sense that it's FWD and then become AWD. if anything, i'd want AWD that is RWD biased or just RWD that becomes AWD. big difference.

test drove plenty of v70s and when it engages, it's like a hiccup in teh system before it engages.

I recently drove a V70 wagon.

Very nice and comfy. Huge.

But from a driving perspective, it was very weak.

YUP.

it's pretty relative, isn't it? what you want or what i want in a car, we might as well be called the 1st percentile. and most cars are never made for the 1st percentile. they're made to shotgun blast a middle fifth or a top fifth.

Again, nice clean looking car, but WAY too cute for a man to drive.

Weak? I think it is drives very well. You see, the girl wanted an SUV. We found a manual 2003 volvo v70 that had been sitting on the lot for awhile with almost no options (wood dash inlay, jumper seat and, ummm - nothing else). Cloth seats for the dogs, too. It cost very little, carries TONS of stuff, and every time I see it instead of an SUV in the garage when I pull my BMW in, I think "what a great car! For her."

Amen, that is my parents V70 XC. Except the high ride and meaty tires make it even more numb. But it does what it's supposed to do, so it's good for them.

Again, the MINI Cooper S is a cute car and plenty of men own them and track them none the less.
