I'm seriously considering placing an order for an E46M3 again. I had previously cancelled my order due to conflicts at work, those are levelling out now. Since the early info on the E90 are abysmal (ugly and nearly as big as an E39) I'm seriously considering an E46 M3.

Cool! I love my e36 M3, but I still lust for the power and updated interior of the e46.

Yes, I had ordered a topaz blue one. Now I'm thinking Steel Grey/Imola/SMG

I agree on the SMG. I don't like it.

I really wish steel grey was still available. Beautiful color IMO. There is a woman (girl really) who has a 2002 steel grey M3 with every option. Nice looking car. And to think, the woman probably thinks I'm staring at HER.

Sorry, Silver Grey/Imola/SMG

Get Sterling Grey if it's no cost, it's closer to steel gray than Silver Grey.

Right, replaced by silver grey and mystic.

FWIW, I've seen a few mystic M3s, and they look VERY nice. Cosmos black is still my favorite color, but mystic blue is a close second.

Wanting more power?

No actually, the E36 has plenty that's why I havent touched the engine or even chipped it. I'm looking for the whole package the E46 M3 brings, speed and civility.

You can get civility with a car? Man, I bet my boss would have chipped in for one for me. ;) So this would be in addition to the E36, not replacing it?

Doug

Not sure but it would most likely replace the 5er, that or maybe a new 6.

is it really true, that somewhere it's written that the new e90 will be that much bigger and heavier than the e46?

The latest issue of "Roundel" has a photoshopped pic and mentions it's only 2 inches smaller than an E39

Don't do it! Or at least go test drive one first. The test drive might make you change your mind.

I've driven (street and track) many E46 M3s....

My local dealer had a Grey/Imola M3 Coupe recently. Might even still be there. I seem to recall it was a conventional manual, but the color combination was nice. The color looked like Steel Grey, but I never actually checked what color it was.

They also had an Imola/Black/6Speed that was awesome. Maybe I can swing one before the E46 goes away. Guess I am going to have to hurry.

yeah, I knew that. I made that post right after I made the post in the "test drive is all it takes" thread. The connection was obvious to me and funny. It just lost something in the translation to the rest of the world.

No, civility is not offered as an option even on M3's. However, these are some suggestions offered by our first president. If you will practice these, I am sure your boss will notice the improvement.

2d When in Company, put not your Hands to any Part of the Body, not usualy Discovered.

3d Shew Nothing to your Freind that may affright him.

5th If You Cough, Sneeze, Sigh, or Yawn, do it not Loud but Privately; and Speak not in your Yawning, but put Your handkercheif or Hand before your face and turn aside.

You'll get no argument from me, Haus.

...except maybe for the SMG. Then again, I guess you've spent plenty of time in sports cars with a clutch pedal, so I suppose I can't blame you for wanting to try a paddle shift.

If I could do it all over again, I'd get an older E36 or even E30 M3 and tinker with it. I'm not sure I can stomach what it would cost to really customize mine. Yeah, it's fantastic stock, but, but, but...

Well, you'll get those nifty LED brake lights. Just don't drive in front me...it'll drive my V1 nuts. ;-)

with all due respect to forbes' list, they should have had two categories....GTs and "sports cars".

i would argue that the jag, the gullwing, and the m3 at their "pinnacle" iterations are GTs.

these car itches never go away, do they? :-D
