Holy crap.

On the drive to work this morning I felt a mild vibration from the rear left under deceleration. I thought, "Oh crap, is this a wheel bearing or a bushing or something?"

I get to work, get out of the car and go to wiggle the wheel/tire, and the first thing I noticed was the the tire really hot. Then I wobble it and the freaking thing had a few millimeters of play. I look at the lug nuts, and one of them was visibly loose! I turn the other 3 and they were all turnable by hand.

Holy crap. I had rotated the tires exactly 2 weeks earlier, and tightened them with a torque wrench to 90 ft lbs. I've read that Kosei's come loose because the painted comes loose where the bolt touches the wheel. I guess they really do need to be checked every week.

Did you tighten them with a torque wrench that's always at 88 ft-lbs?

Dude. Why the fuck haven't you blasted the paint out of the lug holes yet?

A dremel tool with a wire brush will take care of it in minutes.

Alex, check your nuts.

Have clyde and his masculine hands take care of this problem.

Had a guy next to me in the lane to my right loose his left front wheel on the Baltimore Beltway a few years ago.
