Predicted most-heard comment by Sky owners in first 6 months after release: "THAT'S A SATURN?!?!"

I love that simple, minimalist interior.

Gawd, it's such a shame that vehicle's coming from GM.

Very nice, now if I could stand having a convertible in central Texas with 100+ forecasted each day this week.

Um... the 2-tone red and black just screams "GM Cheasy" to me...

But perhaps a black and tan, or all tan will be offered -- then it wouldn't be that bad. Let's hope the material quality is good.

Top up, AC during the sunlight hours.

Top down, smile on face during darkness.

This is the worst time of year, come Oct thru May it is fantastic!

looks neat.

they did a nice job of styling the solstice and the SKY quite differently. i agree with the part about it being a four cylinder engine --but the supercharged version seems like it could give the much vaunted MCS a run for its money in both agility and quickness.

As long as they keep the weight down - the NC Miata is almost exactly 2550 lbs, I'll be very happy if the 240hp Solstice/Sky is within 200lbs.

Yeah, I don't necessarily care for the colors either. But the simple layout and the small instrument pod (cluster) is pretty neat. I'm sure that once you sit in the car, the appearance and feel of the interior is exceedingly cheap. But at least from a distance, The overall look is good.

Yup... it's cheese. Just like this interior:

Uh huh.

Not that you'd ever go to a GM dealership to verify for yourself.

i don't think the interior will be much worse, if worse at all, than an S2000, a 350Z, a miata or a toyota celica or even a lotus elise.

fact is: all of these cars have okay interiors, but nothing i would call luxurious. and recall that the s2000 is $34k and the lotus is $45k --that is 10k and 20k more expensive, respectively.

good perspective is to sit inside an entry level luxe car such as the z4 (45k USD) and see how cheap the feel is there.

The Z4 interior is horrendous. BMW managed to find the same manufacturer that supplies GM its coarse-grain vinyl for dashboards.

Can you swap an LS7 in that?

Damn, that m'fer fits in everything, eh? :P

Although for a car the size of a Miata/Solstice/Sky, I'd personally rather use a Ford 302. Smaller and lighter than the LSX, with no shortage of performance adders on the aftermarket.

Well, you can always add some ballast in the trunk for better weight distribution, and a 355mm width tire in the rear for better traction.

Wonder what the 'ring time would be for a car like that? :eeps:

I like the S2000 a lot, the interior is no luxo barge but it's got all the right stuff for driving. I just find the reactions to the Sky interior (as "typical GM cheesy crap") amusing, given its similarities with the S2000.

I agree. It looks like the GM folks tried to style the interior after the S2000 and to an extent the new Miata (er... MX-5 :? ).

I like it. If they make one with some balls, I'd definitely go test drive one. As it stands, a 170hp four cylinder isn't going to get me into the dealership.

OK. It wasn't my comment, though. I like the sky interior, sans the color combo.

And I'll be the first to tell you that the S2000 interior, well, particularly the control clusters (HVAC, audio controls, etc) surrounding the gauges is very cheasy. Not that it really matters, but it's an ugly spot in an otherwise decent quality interior.

Another giant penis with 4 wheels. :dunno:

I happen to like red/black 2tone, but there is way too much going on in that interior for my taste. Silver trim around the shifter should be black.. so should the entire dash and the steering wheel... the door card inserts are too big... the control console is WTF... and the gauge cluster looks like one of my crappy DIY instals and appears to be just as much an afterthought as bringing a roadster to market 4 years too late is. Cheap? Perhaps. Fugly? Definitely.

IMO, of course.

I still like it. No room in the five year plan for a roadster though.
