I'm sure noone has ever heard of this, but last night was the 10th annual Gouch's Garlic Run in NJ. A motor cycle club in NJ sponsors it. (The Blue Knights) To be a member of the Blue Knights, you must be, or have been a NJ Police officer, so yes, there were plenty of police around for this bike run.

The run started in a mall parking lot in Rockaway NJ (right next to interstate 80) and runs all the way into lower Manhatten via the Holland tunnel. (with full police escort) The run benifits a few childrens charities including the "make a wish" foundation, with 100% of the preceeds going to charities. They ask for 20.00 for each bike, and 10.00 for each rider, and when we left the staging area at 5:45 there were over 4000 bike already!! Bikes were still filing in, and the ride started at 6:30 (staging area was setup in long rows of 40 bikes, so ity was easy to tell that there was already 4000 bikes)

I had rehab scheduled for my shoulder, near this mall so we stopped to look at the bikes. I figured the boys from OCC would be there, cause this ride started from only about 30 miles from thier shop, but they were not there. Thier "Trim Spa" bike was on display, though.

I heard on the radio this morning, that the ride started on time at 6:30, and at 7:00 there was still a 2 wide line of bikes pulling out onto the highway. Harley's, enduro's, rice burners, goldwings, trikes, you name it, they were there.

I know this thread is useless without pictures, but you can google Gouch's garlic run and see some shots of previous years. I just couldn't believe how many freakin bikes were there, supporting a great cause. Next year, I'll try to remeber to bring a camera.

I donated even though we weren't riding, it was just too overwhelming to see all these people and motorcycles there to help sick children!
