F150? Can that handle the rigors of towing? I always thought they were light duty?

Up to 9,500 when properly configured. Can be as low as 5,900. Most configs are in the 7-8k range.

If sales = greatness, then I guess McDonalds = gourmet dining.

Some people thing that they need to add "straight" to "royal flush" too

dan
05-08-2005, 03:58 PM
no, that would be more like adding Royal to straight flush

clyde

no, it wouldn't

you can't have a royal flush without a straight but you can have a straight flush without a royal card in sight

You can't make a sucky truck, that people regret buying, a best selling truck year after year. Consumers are not stupid.
I'm betting Melissa's regretting it due to her changed life style, not the truck's fault.

Nate would agree that were the vast majority of consumers anything but stupid, out economy would completely crumble. Marketing is predicated on the assumption that most people are stupid.

You may regret a purchase or two (OK, some of us may regret more than a couple purchases), but I bet either those items are not best sellers year after year, or the item was simply not designed for you. Just because you got sucked in by advertisement it doesn't mean the majority of consumers are stupid.

the F150 would be much more of a viable truck, to me, if it was offered with more than just that POS 4-speed auto.

especially for $50K

A great deal of it is the mystique of The King Ranch itself. Holding some 11.5 million worldwide acres as of 1970 and caertainly more now, it is legendary and worthy of respect in certain circles (i.e. the target market).

My former employer was closely knit with Ford trucks and I was involved in the unveiling of one of the only two production versions on the planet at that time. This was probably 2.5 - 3 years ago (maybe more) at a special event at the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, TX. The truck was quietly shipped from Motown in an enclosed trailer as a surprise for the unsuspecting throngs (pure, unadulterated target marketing at its best). The cowboys, wannabe cowboys and cowgirls were worshipping this thing as if it was their own, personal moshia. It was truly amazing.

It was then that I understood the asking price. Crazy, I know - you just have to understand the mentality of the consumer base. It is a big deal to them to own a piece of the history. Pretty clever marketing on Ford's part, actually.

As for the upholstry, it looks and is stitched like a western horse saddle.
