Get it!

 I wish. Did you see the price tag?

But if I were rich and lived farther south, I probably would.

It goes wonderfully in the snow. The E class feels quite a bit more sure footed than the E46.

If that's too expensive, why not a 2006 Magnum SRT-8?

Sure, it's down about 50 hp, but it's also less than half the price.

price doesn't matter when there's a badge to be had

Now if they'd just bring over the E320 CDI wagon...

You say that like you had your eyes open coming back from Detroit :P

I actually saw one a couple weeks ago. I work close to a car mag, I forget the name. But they are always testing new BMW's, P-cars, Mercs and the likes. It was a very nice dark blue. Now thats HAULING groceries!!

the 545i wagon, if equipped with the 6speed manual, would still be much better to drive, i would bet.

down on power, but still more involving. driving an automatic is like playing a video game to me.

That was Sean on all seasons in an E320.

I've driven an E55 in the snow.

Driving almost all BMWs post '01 model year is as well. The driving inputs are all "requests" that are "submitted" to the "central computer" and are then approved and processed.

Oh, come on. It's not quite at the level of a brake-by-wire Benz. Not yet at least (knock on wood). :eeps:

But it looks like shit in and out comepared to the E55.... and it is not as big, or exclusive, or fast, etc. :)

Hey, when forking out 90K for a wagon, some things don't have to make sense.

About the slushie... the thing is 4400lbs... I don't think a stick would make this wagon "involving." It's just an ultra-luxury family vehicle. And if you can swing 90K for a wagon, I'm sure there is an involving car in the fleet or two.

You still haven't explained why anyone should buy this car over a Magnum SRT-8.

BTW, I noticed in C/D's review of the 300C SRT-8 that that car comes with an honest to god mechanical limited slip differential, so I assume that the Magnum will too.

Not that it can be logically rationalized, but among reasons to pay the premium:

-Badge
-Exclusivity
-looks
-quality
-snob factor
-luxury
-features
-components

But it is a car for rich yuppies, no question. I think an E500 wagon is already a car for rich yuppies, if not the E350.
