According to an article in thecarconnection, the V10 in the M5/M6 (I don't know the S-code) weighs 529 lbs.

According to this post on LS1 Tech, the weight of an LS1 crate motor with manifolds and a clutch is 458 lbs.

I could not quickly find the weight of the LS7, but I'd be surprised if it were much greater (if at all) than the LS1.

Of course the V10 is heavier, you idiot. The POS GM engine only has 8. If you really want to get technical about it, the BMW engine weighs less. See, using your figures (which I'm not sure I believe, BTW), the BMW engine only weighs 52.9 pounds per cylinder. The huge cheater GM engine weighs 57.25 pounds per cylinder. If they made it a V10, it would weigh 573 pounds.

I swear some of you really ought to learn to educate yourselves before posting.

Actually, you've got this wrong--the real metric is lbs/valve. The M5 engine only weighs 13.2 lbs per valve. The GM engine weighs more than twice as much--an astonishing 27.4 lbs per valve.

I can see that you both are know-nothing car newbs.

If you actually bothered to think about it you'll notice that from the specs posted, the BMW engine has a superior 132.25 : 1 weight-to-door ratio, as expressed by lbs per doors. This is compared to the 229 : 1 ratio on the cheater american POS. :nono:

As we can all see from the specs avaliable, no one has cornered the market for technological superiority like the bavarians have.

:worshipb:
