I was in Wyoming last week and regular unleaded was under $2 a gallon. SoCal hasn't seen prices that low for some time.

I just don't buy into the reasons given for the suddenly higher prices.

Good, since the law gives Detroit preferential treament on churning out Urban Assault Vehicles for housewifes who can barely drive a Civic, it is only fair that they get it on the consumption end.

It is ludicrous that M3 drivers have to pay $1000 or $1300 for the cab of "gas guzzler" tax while these POS' don't.

Try $2.80 something in the SF Bay Area for 91.

I paid almost $45 large to fill up the tiny tank in my E36 last week. :eeps:

I am too, though it's ridiculous to put the blame on Detroit without also putting it on Munich, Stuttgart and Toyota City.

How many SUVs does Toyota sell? I count five, with an additional three under the Lexus name. Nissan has a crapload, too, offering the two Infinitis and four under the Nissan nameplate.

Porsche and BMW have both exploited this loophole, as has (to a lesser extent) VW. DCX might be the worst, given the huge number of SUVs and "trucks" like the PT Cruiser and Magnum they sell.

If Congress was to close the loophole today, Detroit will go under.

If Congerss was to close the loophole next year, Detroit will still go under.

This is why Detroit is solely to blame. Their dependence on SUV sales will ensure that this law will never ever go away. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

I paid a little over $6 to fill my tiny tank at the beginning of this week. :)

I giggle at the SUVs that are filling up when I get there and still filling up when I leave.
