someone tell me why I shouldn't? Aside from 173k, it being 2800 miles away from me, etc. My father may go look at it for me tomorrow.

What niche would that fill? E46 too small?

white sucks.

BOO!!!! You're knockin my white, aka Old Whitey E34. :box:

Of course it is officially my BMW pickup truck. You guys would be blown away by how nasty it is. It is hard to avoid when building. Plan to have it detailed this spring.

Clyde, if you want an E34 525i, I have one ('92) that has had everything replaced (minus A/C - R12 & trans). Seriously...I am looking to sell this spring. 145,3XX miles. Heads up to anyone else looking for basic transportation.

The fucking Buick uglifying my street is on its last legs. I still need to have a slushie here that my mother can drive when she's in town. I'm growing more and more weary of the race car noises that the RX-8 is making these days (and is going to be making more of soon, most likely) on my commute and weekend errand running. The price is right. At $5k or less, if I get 5 years of use without any major repairs, I'm a happy guy.

Slushbox. I'd post pics but, they are on my desktop computer and it is packed away. Hopefully it won't be for much longer though.

Nikasil? Nothing in there about whether the block's been replaced. Have your dad make sure it idles well--would suck if the engine were lunched, because then you'd have 5K worth of scrap metal in a wagon shape.

OTOH, maybe you could put in an Infiniti V8.

Also, the seller seems like he's had a bit too much coffee. Or meth. Or something.

If it's gone 173K on a Nikasil engine, it's unlikely to suffer a Nikasil related failure in the future. Of course, I wouldn't buy a car with 173K on it without having a leakdown test first anyway.

It's a dealer. I doubt it's coffee. Probably something a little cocalike.

Are they so rare that you can't look for one a little closer?

Um, it's green. And a slushie. (Would you actually spring for a tranny swap or just live with it?)

Granted I know ALL E34 iT in the US came as slushies and it seems like 95+% of them were green.

My Q45 was Black Emerald. Green isn't a problem for me. It's not really a slushie...it has both a Manual AND a Sport mode.

Sadly, slushie is a requirement (my mom has to be able to drive it the two times a year she's here and goes somewhere by herself  ). While I'd rather have a stick, it won't be a hardship.

You could dump the Buick and the xiT and buy this:
