Yet another dumb question: how do I know how much fluid to put into the transmission? The haynes manual said something like "fill it until it won't take any more", but I've read other people say "don't overfill it or you can cause the seals to burst." :?

You can't overfill. Drain it, but the drain plug in, and fill it until it starts to leak out of the fill hole. Replace the fill plug. You're done. At least, that's how all of them that I have changed have worked. I haven't specifically dealt with your transmission.

Don't forget to remove the fill plug first. If you drain first and can't get that off, you are screwed.

Thanks. That's what my plan was.

I don't get these folks warning not to overfill. :?

Maybe if you were filling it while it was standing on it's end.

I thought you turn the car upside down and fill through the drain hole

That's not a drain hole Matt, that's a tail pipe.

That only applies to ZHP tranny fluid.

It's a special gravity-defying fluid.
