View Full Version : List the stuff your car is demanding you purchase for it!

RKT BMR

In the spirit of the "here's this stuff I've got and never installed" thread, this is a list of things the RKT BMR is demanding I purchase ASAP. I've tried to reason with the car, but it even insists I miss mortgage payments, abscond on bills, starve my children, and forgo necessary medical treatment (if it arises) to purchase these things. Complete M3 aero kit 18" BMW OEM type 71 wheels, 8" in front, 8.5" in the rear. New S03 rubber to go with them. Upgrade entire MkIII small screen NAV system to MkIV DVD-based system with 16:9 widescreen. BMW OEM TV module BMW OEM voice recognition module Bluetooth kit, when retrofit available for MY2001 Stereo system upgrade/overhaul. The HK has served its purpose these past two years, but I'm quite ready now to put some real boom into the beast. This would be especially helpful in a convertible. Rear fog retrofit. Boost gauge for the ESS blower. I'm investigating ways I could get this to display on the NAV screen. With the TV module, there are some interesting possibilities. If I could get this designed and proto'd, I could display a bunch of data besides boost (oil&coolant temps, RPM, fuel tank lobe level readings, battery voltage -- the possibilities are endless). The "pass-through tool", so I can program/code my car myself.

I think my car (http://www.tmk.com/bmw) is pretty happy with me...

If I ever add anything else, it'll probably just be better tires.

Speaking of my "my car" page, has anyone else noticed that the title of that page has been "The evolution of Terry's 2003 BMW 325xiT Sport Wagon" since October 6th, 2002? Evolving seems to be quite the rage... :D

525: More front suspension parts, oil change, & brake fluid flush.

Rebuild all the seats (front and back)
New oil pump
5-speed (that 4000 rpm buzz at 75mph in 4'th gets old fast)
Tires (somehow those 14 year old P6's keep going and going... but are hard as a rock...)
Limited Slip
and if I win the lottery...
a new paint job.

But then again, the car is now 30 years old and is just fine (except it REALLY needs that oil pump soon)

It badly needs new RSMs. As long as I'm in there, I'm replacing the old OEM shocks with Konis. I also need snow tires and new summer tires.

Very little...

The M3 needs new tires. Badly.

And the Saab needs a Blitzsafe XM adapter (and some of my time for an install).

Gas.

And oil.

Other than that, mine also wants a Tubi exhaust, ACS DFC suspension and a RMS supercharger.

And it's not getting any of those

winter tires.

Why?

We don't even have a car with all-seasons. Summer tires all around. You don't need winter tires around here. Last winter was a freakish anomaly. And I still didn't have winter tires (and I only missed two days of work, IIRC).

The 325 needs a chip and a few new vacuum hoses. I'm thinking the cat is the reason for its current issues, so it needs a new cat, too. :(

The Miata needs new coolant hoses, a coolant flush and new diff fluid.

Good thread, Dave!

I think my car is dying for these:

1. SMG system
2. More track time
3. BBK (though I repeatedly said no)
4. ...

Can't think of anything else... :(

winter tires.

Why?

Because although I hear that last winter was atypical, I also hear that this winter will be very bad. I'm a CA girl - driving on ice and snow-covered streets is not something I am used to. I figure having winter tires wouldn't hurt anything, and might make driving in those conditions a little less challenging.

What kind of chip?

I've just got a whole bunch of things to take care of on the car(s)...

Blue Ci: Need new bushings and belts all around. They're not busted yet but I'd like to do a little bit of preventative maintenance. Need new brake fluid. Got new power steering hose but haven't had time to take care of it yet. Need to clean the Buttwillow dust off the inside of the car.

Red Ci: Need new front brakes (got those from Kaz), seriously in desperate need of a winter detail, in and out. Need to ditch the S-03s on the '71s, and go with something much lighter...The car drives like a pig right now compared to the Z4.

Z4: Need new shoes. Also I want to see if E46 330i brakes might fit...:paranoid:
