I love your car.

Did you back-to-back compare it against the Subie?

Edit: I spent some time in my brother's old CRX (Westguard Pass) between Bishop,CA. and Vegas. That was a very fun little car to drive.

Cool Pics!! :D Looks like a FUN drive.

Could you tell me a little more about the CRX?

I bought an Si new back in 91 and put a lot of money into the suspension and stereo. The car was on rails but way underpowered.

I can see from the front shot there is a nice intercooler peeking out. :?

Turbo charged maybe?

Never fails. Seems every time I get seat time in the mountains I manage to find a slow-moving convoy of RVs.

Yes, it has a turbo. He purchased the car cheap and did various mods for nearly nothing. Puts out over 200hp. Also has Konis on it. It's not his daily driver (toy). He has a Jeep GC with the 5.7 and his wife drives an Acura TL.

No, I didn't. Friend that owns the Subie is more anal then myself. No one drives his car. He's putting out nearly the same hp as a STi.

that's kind of nice that people pull over. i would, too, to let the crazies on by.

:-)

it's not difficult to get a wrx up to STi power levels. probably pretty fun to do, too, since a lot of people do it now and there are many choices about how to do it.

my favorite exhaust sound, though, right behind that of a gurgling v8 (flat crank or otherwise) is the flat-4 thrumming along at full boost.

Throughout the day many people were surprised to learn that the E30 M3 has a 4 banger in it, as it does not sound like one.

May there still be clean copies when I can afford to have one as a toy.

Thanks Tom and everyone else.

I would have preferred Zinnoberrot, Brilliantrot or Lachssilber metallic but, this one was almost too good to be true. I would have been a fool to pass it up.

Well...that's really not the case. Purchased it last April and have put approx. 700 miles on it, including driving it home 200 miles from NC. Current mileage is 37,5XX.

That's often been the case the times I've been there. There seem to be two distinct roadblocks on the Dragon - people who know that others are trying to do fast runs and will get out of your way, and people who know that others are trying to do fast runs and will intentionally stay in your way.

I think white looks way better than any other E30 M3 color; I'm not a fan of Henna or Cinnebar. Good choice. :)

You summed it up perfectly. Especially the part about owning one for a few years. I don't foresee owning it more than 3-4 years. I had intended to keep it forever but, I am uncertain about that plan now.

Classic Car insurance limits that (mileage) and the replacement value is too high.

I really love your car, Sean, but one of the reasons I didn't get an M3 in "100%" condition is because of your conundrum. I'd estimate mine to have been in the 85%-90% area, and I had an absolute blast. Of course, I'd have to check my records...but I think you've already driven yours more than I drove mine.

Hagerty NEVER checks the odometer even though theyhave that 'requirement' as you mention (other insurance companies doing those style of policies do ask for odometer readings.....)

Replacement costs? Then why did you get it? Drive the bugger and enjoy it. You can't live in a cave all the time. Even going out to the street to get you mail carries certain risks..... he he

Keep your head about you and enjoy it responsibly. Seriously. The 'value' of that car isn't really all that great. It's not like it is some 1929 Duesenberg Model J or something.....

Hmm...maybe but, many of you if, not most of you would not have paid what the original owner was asking and btw, his price was nonnegotiable, firm.

This car has a documented history from day one, every record, bill of sale, window sticker which was never even affixed to the car because the original owner picked the car up at port himself, the mods it has has, all OEM parts were included to replace mods if so desired, and the car was on display in the Zentrum for 2 years.

:dunno: that stuff mattered to me when I bought mine. But yeah, it's better to drive it often. Maybe that's Sean's point -- it's so nice that it's hard to justify driving the paint off of it every weekend.

Are you allowed to use old license plates, provided the number is not currently registered? I don't know what a 1987 TN plate would look like, but that would be neat.

While I do think it's a shame that Sean's M3 isn't seeing more duty (although I understand his situation), it's just as big of a waste (if not bigger) for a car like the Elise to be used a commuter, never seeing a track or autox.
