the all-new M45 (based on the G35 chassis) and the 2006 GS430 have me highly interested in how things are going to play out in this segment. the STS is marginally competitive.

any opinions or takers on how the upcoming multicar comparison is going to play out?

i'm not a huge fan of the middleweight luxe cars, but it's hard not to be fascinated with those cars.

I wouldn't turn down any of them, if offered.

The 545 is supposedly quite a good car. It will be even better with the 4.8. If you want a manual transmission, it's essentially the only choice, unless you acknowledge that the CTS is actually a 5er competitor, rather than a 3er competitor.

I don't know anything about the GS430 yet, but all of Lexus' previous efforts have been disappointing, so I'm not anxious. Plus I doubt you will see a manual in that car.

Of the cars you mention, if I had to choose, I'd take the 545 without any hesitation.

If the M45 came with a stick shift, I'd be very interested. But, it doesn't, so I'm not. If one of those choices was being forced on me, I'd have a tought time. I guess I'd get the 545.

i was assuming that to truly compare all of them, you'd be an old fogie and eschew the manual and settle on an automatic.

once you jump over the wall to the other side, it complicates the decision.

I am way more interested in an IS 430 than a GS 430. That had one at the auto show. Well, it was a 4 something, at least.
