View Full Version : Sarafil: Is it already too late to order a pre-facelift A4?

Just curious. It's one of many variables kicking around in my head. If it's already too late, it reduces the count by one.

I hate the new Audis.

----------------

OT (sorry didn't feel like starting a new thread, but feel free to create one):

This sucks. MB's look beautiful but are pricey and unreliable (electrically). Audis look hideous and are ultra-unreliable (in every way it seems). BMW's are getting too many electro-nannies and are ugly. Porsches are overpriced as all hell and have RMS issues.

What ever happened to the great German brands? Of all these, MB and Porsche at least seem like good cars if you can afford them new. At least you don't look at your own car (in or out) and get acid reflux.

Maybe they will push everyone back into cadillacs. I like mine.

I didn't think the AUDI looked so bad at the auto show. The A3 was probably my favorite new car there.

Honestly... my two A4's have been no less reliable than the E46 was. :dunno:

That is good news. I'd love to hear that an A4 3.0 Avant is reliable.

Maybe late, but from my understanding, yes... Face-lifted A4s are already sitting at port.

The face-lifted Audis look better in person than they do in photos. I think the A6 looks okay in its new skin, but I still can't get used to the A4's big old gappy grille. Maybe, if I had a Euro plate to cover up the expanse of black plastic in the middle there, I'd like it better. :dunno:

You're right! I've heard it looks fairly decent in person. I'm interested in Test Driving one with the new 2.0.

It ain't so bad.

This coming from a guy who *likes * the E60 5-series.

I think that pic is bad enough but imagine it with a US sized license plate in front.

I can see body shops doing a lot of painting of that middle piece (the bumper) to match the body color.

I can see a lot of people cutting their license plates to fit. Or just going without.

It ain't so bad becasue it has a sleek euro plate. Put a US plate on that and we'll see. Regardless, yeah it is not awful, but it is pretty bad considering how good they used to be. Just like BMW.

Thanklfully none of the states within the Southeast require a front plate. ;)

It's not as bad in person as in the pictures; actually, in person the lights are kind of cool, because they have that heavy-lidded look that is kind of menacing (and that BMW has given up for the "OH GOSH SOMEONE HAS PUT ICE IN MY SHORTS" wide-eyed suprise look). Also, the S4 looks better than that pic b/c those wheels look like ass.

The grille is bad, though, and a pre-facelift car is clearly better.

Audi of Alexandria had a number of stick A4s and S4s on the lot the last time I was there (about a month ago); might be worth a call to see if there is still stock out there.

SCA

BTW, when I stopped by our local Porsche, Audi & Jag dealer a few nights ago, most of the A4s on the lot were 2005 1.8TQ SE. Audi has produced a special edition before the face-lifted model hits the dealers. Audi is apparently cleaning out the part bins.

And those SEs have a serious lease deal going on them- $299/mo with something like $3K due at signing.

What's the catch? Lease terms (length and mileage).

wait until you guys see the next gen. impreza wrx.

Well, new A4s may be uglier, but have better engines. The 2.0T is much better than the 1.8T, and the 3.2 is better than the 3.0.

Can you get a manual with the new 6? At some point they were saying you wouldn't be able to, but I haven't been keeping up.

Lemming: The new Subaru "face" is so profoundly reminiscent of the Edsel that I can't believe no one has pointed it out yet.

Sorry guys, I've been quite busy lately.

TD, as far as I know, it is too late to order one from the factory. I remember hearing that the new ones (facelifted) are not too far away, and they are likely already in production.

Is there no way that you could find a reasonable match in inventory somewhere?

EDIT: One of my pretty decent Audi sources says "the new one is already on its way to dealers..." So, that sounds like bad news for TD.

It was more a "for my information" question. I'm thinking about my options. I'll probably make a decision as to whether or not I want to keep my M3 late next week. Then again, if someone wanted to buy it, I'd probably sell it regardless. I'm leaning again toward thinking it's time for a change.

We are test driving one tonight ( a 6 speed) and the numbers the dealer ran are actually a little bit better than the 299 special. Well, 294 is a little better than 299. Adding tax and license, we are looking at about 342 a month. His only one in 6 speed is Mora blue, which is a little darker than I like, but, as long as the wife is happy, I will be happy.

It also has cold weather package and XM CD changer which aren't a part of the SE package, so I feel I'm getting a pretty good deal
