I watched it too...about 6 hours of it.
I went to the auction 2 years ago. Rented an escort to make the drive b/c the BMW was still the leased one and couldn't take the mileage. That trip in the escort helped make me decide to trade the leased car in (yeah, not very logical, but it was what it was).
I am flying out tomorrow to go to the auction on Saturday. My whole family goes every so often. It's lots of fun just to wander around and look at the cars that are going up - kind of like an auto show of real life cars. The auction itself is just gravy. Lots of good stuff there.

aty: anyone do ridiculous stuff like super or turbo- charge their elises yet?
can they use TRD supercharging parts for that engine?
I visited the Peterson museum on my penultimate day in L.A., and my buddy and I hung out at the Barrett-Jackson auction for a couple of hours. Quite an eclectic bunch of cars.

ForcedFed has turboed a car. I have no idea what kind of reputation they have.

Damn... mid year Corvettes almost seem affordable next to the rarer muscle cars out there. Then again, if I were in a position to own a Barrett-worthy car, I'd probably have at least one copy in more drivable condition.

I now live ~10 miles from Westworld where Barrett-Jackson is held... Going this afternoon -- this is my third time going, but the last time I went was about 10 years ago and its grown significantly since then.

There are "Barrett-worthy" cars - and there is a bunch of crap. They usually don't highlight the crap. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty to drool over, but any car is "Barrett-worthy" if you are willing to pay the auction fee. I saw one baerly running hunk of junk that someone was selling as a restorer base. I suppose it might have been a highly sought after model, but in that condition . . .
Last time I went, there was a Delorean that had 57 original miles on it. It sold for something like $25k to a kid. The owner wasn't happy . . .

indeed
Comcast better not take Speed from me
Athough I'm glad I have The Outdoor Life Network since Speed decided that Dakar wasn't good enough for them this year

I get the gameshow network, and I used to get Speed. About 18 months ago, Comcast made it a pay channel. I refuse to pay for it as I'm already Comcast's bitch.
Comcast here not only has Speed, they just upgraded my net connection to 4 MB for free. They don't suck so bad in Reston. :P
On a related note, that midyear roadster for $110k was surprisingly "affordable."

Comcast just recently made Speed available to their Montgomery County customers. They truly are different companies in each monopoly area they control. Comcast in Harford County wasn't bad. Howard Country was a little better. Montgomery County sucks raw, rotten eggs.
Their internet service has only gotten better and better since @home crashed and burned leaving them no choice but to run it themselves.

The only way to watch BJ (the auction, not the act) is via Tivo. The bids really go up quickly when you FF :)
And the Ferrari jacket guy was pretty cool - he was in on quite a few purchases. I wouldn't mind having his bankroll...

Young guy...also had a Ferrari hat on. He was purchasing cars for a New museum in Colorado. Colorado Gateway Museum.
My cousin was certain that the guy hat bought the car was taken for a ride by the other bidder. Ferrari guy was IN THE CAR while he was bidding and wasn't even facing what was going on. and the bids were going up by 100k. Must be a LOT of fun to be able to do that with someone else's money.
The guy that was bidding against him also bought a handfull of stuff . . .
