OK, so my stock MK4 DVD NAV when I first got the M5 could only go down to 400ft.

When we put the NAV unit we bought from bimmernav into my MIL's 740, it could go down to 150ft.

Thinking that if I get the latest V32 US firmware, I could take care of that, I bought it from Tischer and installed it, and no change, still 400ft.

Which makes me think that there's a hidden menu that is stopping me from going further down than 400ft.

I have the latest map that just came out.

Any ideas?

Um, I just realized that the UK version uses yards and not feet.

So it is 133. something yards to 400ft.

So it would make sense that her UK firmware MK4 DVD says 150 instead of 400.

Math is a tricky thing.

Yup. If you want to kick it into UK mode, just re-install old software (not map) and then re-install V32. That will reset the computer to the UK default. The only thing is that the language changes a bit - you'll get "keep right at the roundabout" and so forth.

Terry,

Thanks for all your help, it's all working now.

I managed to get a hold of a V22 seriously old software, downgraded my NAV to that, then upgraded back to V32.

I am in 125 yards magnification now.

And it says motorway, but I am OK with that.:D

Curiously, when I did the downgrade from V32 to V29, it did not go into UK mode, which was why I made the post.

No problem.

It is kind of picky. What actually triggers it is when the older software doesn't understand something that the newer software saved to permanent memory. When that happens, the unit clears all permanent memory, which has the side-effect of going to UK mode.
