I'm down one car, and have no car payments.

So what do I lust after?

Left field--NSX? I've always wanted to drive one of those.

John V

I drove an NSX a few years ago and was sort of underwhelmed.

No fair. I can't offer suggestions/snipe about motorcycles--until I saw the URL quoted I wasn't even sure what that was.

I third the GT3 suggestion.

That looks fun.

You still have the VW for a sensible car don't you? And, the RX7 is street legal right?

Station wagon? Yes.
Stick? Yes.
Diesel? Yes.
French? That, too.
30 years old? Almost.
Federalized? Fuck that shit.
Ever officially imported into the US? Nope.
Parts available? Nowhere this side of Brittany.

So, in other words, this is the perfect car.

The supercharged Elise is at the top of the list at the moment, but to get one of those it's going to take me a while.

I probably missed the thread. Did you get rid of the 'Vette? The Speed3?

John V
02-23-2010, 09:47 PM
The Vette is sold. I deliver it to the new buyer this weekend. The Speed3 is my wife's car. I don't get to drive it nearly as often as I want ;)

Jesus, that's bad. Plus, the back of my hand still hurts from that storage cover. OTOH, it does make me weirdly nostalgic for the 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix.

John V
02-24-2010, 09:59 AM
LOL.

No, I sold it because it was done fulfilling the one role I asked it to fulfill, that being a competitive autocross car. I have a new car (arguable whether it'll be competitive), I have a daily driver, so I don't really have a need for the Corvette.

That and I got a really good offer for it. So I took it.

Only 90K? Cheap. And, you save 15K!

Also, why would you order nav on a GT3?

...ok so it would have been my view had he actually kept it long enough for me to drive it.

First he sells the Boxster before I get a run in it, and now the Vette. :mad2:

What's your budget?

John V
02-24-2010, 03:41 PM
I already have two (pedal) bicycles and two unicycles. I don't need any other non-motorized wheeled vehicles.

equ - I'm not actually shopping for a car. At this point I'm just dreaming of what I'd pick up in a year. Or two. Or three. I am not FC, so I have no idea when I'll be buying my next car.

I'm leaning towards an Elise, or an Elise supercharged, or a 987 Boxster S, 2009 or later (for the LSD), or a C7 Corvette (if it ever shows up).

I have been looking to but the OBD-1 thing does not matter to me as much. Has to be a coupe this time. They are just so fun to drive.

Digging this one right now. The guy is high with that price though.

It has nothing to do with OBD-II for me. I just don't like the sound and feel of the 3.2L motors.
