What's with 14 CarFax records?

You're acting like I was really going to go buy it... :eeps:

Of course, there are legitimate reasons to have that many records. Some states report registration renewals and emissions inspections.

But it is a lot.

I hadn't clicked through on that - mostly because I know better than to think I'll actually do this right now. But I wanted to share the ad as we keep discussing the values of used Porsches.

The Mitsubishi decal on the trunk lid has to go.

It's amazing how clueless some dealerships can be.

Um... many registration/emission inspection records. Plus a handful of other records such as: sold at auction, serviced at the Mistubishi dealership (surprised they could even find the engine), listed for sale, listed online, and (a wierd one) sold on 3/31??

Or at least check it out... It might not have been treated well. Porsche service records don't seem to be universal like bmw's. You may have to do some digging to find which dealer serviced (that's where carfax will help) and get some info from that dealer. One way to do it, is to say you are a concerned buyer, have no interest in previous customer or his info, just want to make sure car gets serviced properly on its next service. That is rather high mileage for a boxster. It would be fine from a mechanical standpoint, but might not have that nearly new smell/feel in condition. Very likely that, many lower mileage samples will coming up soon.

The 280hp engine is sweet right behind your ears. Haven't driven one since I bought my croc, but I remember waffling between one with 3000miles and the new cayman at the time.

That is awesome.

What are you waiting for? You obviously really want one. Recessions are a great time to buy Porsches.

If they can cpo it for you at that price, that would be great... But of course, it just doesn't *feel* right spending money in a recession, almost by definition.

Forget the Boxster. Get a 911. With the added ability of taking your kids in the car, you should go get yourself one NOW. Have it for this weekend.

That's very nice, Ryan, eh, um, Mr. t E. I really like the 997's. I found the base 997 a bit soft for my taste, but this one has PASM which may fix that.

FC

The S is totally worth the $ over the base 997.

Power, brakes, Xenons, sport steering wheel, PASM, 19" wheels (YMMV), etc all std for ~$5K in the used car market place.

equ

Yes, FC, sure, if you have the money and find a good one. But then that is budget creep, we started with a boxster and stretched to a 997 as it is on this thread.

Of course. I was just making a general statement. I think if TD was looking at ~$30K 987S', he won't wan't to jump to a ~$45K 997 either. Otherwise, he ought to look at '07 987S's with the croc's powertrain.

Odd collection of options. I am personally glad I got a car with 18" wheels (since I am in pothole central).

Still, very nice car with very low (too low?) miles.

Makes me feel good about my deal though. I do like the sport steering wheel. That car has less than 1 year warranty. Unless the car market has rebounded since I got mine 2.5 months ago (have not looked at all - I generally don't after I pull the trigger), you should be able to do better or at least talk this guy down a few K. I would not pay more than 32K.

For reference, I paid $40.5K with a $64K sticker, less than two years old, with CPO and 13.5K miles. And of course, the Cayman S drive train. They were asking $42K.

The car has the 6-year warranty and it wont be 2yo until next month.
