Jet Black with Black leather and Titanium trim. 5-speed Manual transmission, Sport package, Xenon lights, Moonroof, Cold Weather Package, Harmon Kardon Stereo, OEM alarm. Michelin PS2 summer tires on M68s with about 7,000 miles; Michelin Pilot Alpins on 17" steel wheels (BMW center caps included) with about 4,000 miles. Black All-Weather Mats and Cloth Mats.

33,800 miles. One-owner car, special ordered and built in Munich, is in excellent condition with a just few small dings, small scratches, and the usual sport seat bolster wear. No accidents. Moonroof shade needs a new clip or two, which I understand is not a difficult DIY. Otherwise this car has been remarkably problem-free and is likely to join the 200k-plus club for its next owner(s).

$15,000 takes it all.

Wow, what a gem - low miles, clean - seems a shame to sell.

What are you going to get?

EDIT: never mind, saw it in the other thread, good luck.

Thanks so much, guys. I wish I could keep her as a third, fun car. (Although, if I were going to do that, I'd buy John's Boxster).

Practical now. Fun later.

Having sold some nice ones myself, I hate to say it but you might regret this one. Is it even worth selling? If I didn't already have a black 330i, I would be considering.

I could buy his car, drive it all winter then pick a third car, some kind of sports car next spring .....

Because my father lives with us (along with his 325xiT) and we have a garage that barely fits two cars, and a driveway shared with the neighbors, we just don't have room to keep/juggle a FOURTH car. Now, if it were a convertible, I might find the room...

Oh, man. If this were a month from now, I'd probably just buy your car and John V's car and be done with it. Sadly, I'm not sure yours will last that long. Good luck.

Yeah, it is an amazing shocking time to sell and maybe the best time ever to be a buyer. I have been looking at several 2005-2006 M3's with competition packages, 20,000-35,000 miles, single owner, fully loaded, original stickers around $61,000-$64,000, still under warranty for 6-12 months for $27,000-$30,000. Amazing! Good luck with your sale.

Thanks! I know, I would have bought a used X5, but I didn't want the buggy '07s or the old model without the third row. Now is an excellent time to buy used car, provided the seller has faced reality. My car was easily worth $17k just a short while ago. And frankly still drives like the $40k-plus car she was when I first bought her.

Its really the luck of the draw and finding the right buyer. I got super lucky and sold my 99 M3 convertible within one week of posting and with not much off not even three months ago.

In early 04 I sold my 330ci to a guy that flew in from washington to drive it back after advertising it for over 4 months.

True the economy plays a big part but also waiting for the right buyer.

My wife and I checked the car out of Friday and we truly loved it (it's a great car). By Saturday, I was expecting I'd have an interesting addition to the "last thing you bought" thread. But by Sunday, I realized that the timing was unfortunate and was going to be problematic. Without going into too much detail, carrying three cars for 4 months was just not going to be feasible.

But having met "wdc" (and the dogs) and knowing how good of a deal the car was, I floated the ad to some folks I knew who I knew might be in the market and enthusiastically vouched for the car and seller.

I heard this afternoon that they were going to pull the trigger.

My only concern is that I hope the home it's going to is worthy. The car is in great shape and has obviously been well cared for. It really deserves a good home.

It's too bad that this wasn't four months from now as I was really getting into the idea of having a BMW I could work on and tweak a bit again. I was pretty gung-ho about the idea over the weekend until my wife helped me reconnect with financial reality.

We knew it wouldn't last long at this price and I'm happy for "wdc" that the car is sold.

TD, Mrs. TD, the little TDs, and I had a great visit. And I was sincerely hoping to place my last proper BMW (rwd plus stick) with a properly carmudgeonly family. But alas, it was not meant to be. Nonetheless, my family is happy at the prospect of having the garage space back and a pay down on the new car purchase.

A co-worker is looking at used 3s and I realize that, had I bought this car, I could probably sell it today for $10k more than wdc's final asking price.

wdc should have held on to it. And I still regret not buying it - although it would have made it harder to rationalize the M3C had I had it.

Ok, I read this again to make sure I wasn't misreading what you wrote and I'm certainly not. Are you telling me that you think you could have sold this car (a 2002 330i) for $10k more than what wdc sold it for? How much did it end up selling for back in 2008?!

An immaculate, low mileage 2002 330i is worth what... $14k-$15k max? (unless you're this nutjob (http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=67236326&listingRecNum=0&criteria=sf1Dir%3DDESC%26mkId%3D20005%26stkTyp%3DU %26bsId%3D20211%26mdId%3D20409%26rd%3D500%26crSrtF lds%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId-yrId-bsId%26zc%3D02111%26rn%3D0%26PMmt%3D1-1-0%26stkTypId%3D28881%26sf2Dir%3DASC%26sf1Nm%3Dpric e%26yrId%3D20142%26yrId%3D20197%26yrId%3D20198%26s f2Nm%3Dmiles%26rpp%3D50%26feedSegId%3D28705&aff=national)... )

Well, that's fine, but I'm just saying that unless that car sold for $5k then I think TD's math (or his idea of what the car is worth) is off. :dunno:

And if that car did sell for $5k, why didn't anyone tell me?! I would have easily paid $6k for it. :D

I forget what I sold it for. $13.5? Definitely fire sale. Although at the time, the used car market was depressed. It would have been a real cream puff for someone here, but at 7 years old was facing some maintenance ahead. Probably pretty easy for a diy-er to swallow. It also had new Pilot Alpins on steel wheels and relatively new Pilot Sports on the M parallels.

Yep, I figured based on your original asking that you probably sold it in that range. And there is no way on earth that it is worth anything starting with a "2" these days.

So... I just hope that TD passes the crack pipe around instead of keeping it all for himself. :D

He may be thinking ZHPs or later years of my car. Had I sold it about a year earlier, I could have nabbed around $17. Ah well. At the time we bought the X5, we were hoping to expand the family and had my elderly father living with us. Times and circumstance have certainly changed. And the smaller M3C works again for our current family needs.

Well, I do agree that it would have been a great buy (and in hindsight... I wish I had just done something like that a couple of years ago, it would have saved me a lot of money!)... it is worth at least what you got for it, if not a bit more, as long as it is still in good shape with low miles, so whoever bought it has basically driven it for free. We've come full-circle from excess supply/low demand to limited supply and high demand.
